rickster,
I drive by Sparta Farm & Lawn everyday, looks like I better stop in and see the boys.

I really am just sick and tired of waiting and waiting.

I contacted Kubota in March of last year and complained about the seat, they said contact the dealer. Stopped by the dealer, they said I could buy a new seat for $600. Emailed again complaining abot the seat, no response.

Found out about the replacements and stopped by the dealer in June the same day he found out about it, put my name on list. Stopped back twice over summer and fall.

Emailed Kubota again around mid November, they emailed me back that they had all kinds of seats in parts stock but the replacements were a one time deal that ended June 10th and there was absolutely no reason a dealer could not get me a seat thru parts. I emailed them back that no I was on the list to get a replacement seat and KUBOTA was not sending the seats to the dealer.

Got a call from the dealer a week before christmas saying Kubota was sendeng a seat out special for me and he would take one off a new tractor if I wanted him to. Of course I said no I could wait a week or so if Kubota was sending one. He said he would call when it came in.

Still Waiting.....

Now you see why I just give up, but I will stop at Sparta and see what they can do and I just might have a new friend.

Gomer, i understand your feelings.

I have a similar situation. My dealer played dumb the whole way. I even faxed them the PIB document, and they still played dumb.
Would NOT order the seat, and even acted like it didn't exist.

Emailed Kubota, they said contact the dealer. I explained to them my situation wth the dealer in hopes they would set them straight. No such luck.

My dealer SUCKS. period.

I guess my tractor is big enough or costly enough for them to worry about me?

I will be giving them ZERO referrals and buying all my parts elsewhere.

Kubota doesn't seem very interested either.

I guess I will end up paying $200 for a seat that shouldn't cost me anything.
When i do, I am sending a copy of the receipt to my lawyer, who will be instructed to send letters to both Kubota and my dealer.

I am sick, sick, sick of this BS.

Bought my BX2350 in May, 07.

I really really don't want to stir the pot, but you guys did sit on your tractor before you bought it didn't you?

It seems to me that Kubota has gone way above and beyond the call of duty on this one. I have a Chevy Blazer that has always been uncomfortable for me. Chevy ain't gonna get me a new seat. Never even asked. Just figured - I bought it that way.....

I had a problem with my Ford seat and then with my Kubota seat. I am just glad that both were big enough to make good!!!!!

I have an 04 BX23 which in no way qualified for the Kubota exchange program and thought similar thoughts to the above quoted post until I sat on a new seat on a new model. All I can say is that I HAD to have one, the difference in comfort & support is THAT different!
I had always thought the comfort was less than desirable but I was living with it. Course everytime I went in any place that sold tractor seats I would always stop and ponder.....
So I got on my dealers list back in July and am still on it. I wasn't promised a free exchange but I was promised it wouldn't be near as much as the list price. Well come Oct I got tired of waiting and contacted several Kubota dealers (both near & far) and Carvers Eqt Co made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Kudo's to Carvers.
Come mowing season my rear ain't gonna care how much I gave for the seat, it's only gonna care that I HAVE the seat :D
Those of you that have been patiently awaiting your dealers to finially get on board will probably keep on awaiting (just like I am on my dealers list) and if you want to have the seat in time for the upcoming season, you might just go on ahead and contact other dealers that's on the ball, you might pay more but you'll have the seat. Of course it's just MHO......

I have had the new seat on my B3030 since October. It is much, much better than the original. It really holds you in and you don't feel like you are sliding around all the time. The only thing positive I can say about the old seat is that it practically forced me to wear the seat belt just to stay in the seat. With the new seat I find myself not using the seat belt as much. Most of the time I am on flat ground and in no danger of tipping so the seat belt issue is not that important. However, I always wear the belt when I drive my car or truck and try to do that on the tractor, too.

That's all good. I'm not saying the new seat isn't better. I'm saying this thread and the demands placed/expectations of some posters has, in my opinion, gone a little over-the-top.

Kubota produced and provided the new seat as a response to some customers. What I percieve happening now is good old piling on.

You can bet that Kubota will respond - or not - differently in the future, because this is causing them significant good will and dollars.

You did sit in the seat before you bought it, didn't you? Did it hurt?

I contacted Kubota in March of last year and complained about the seat, they said contact the dealer. Stopped by the dealer, they said I could buy a new seat for $600.

I got my 50 hr service back during the first week of December. While the tractor was in the shop I asked if they could put on a new seat and they said it wouldn't be a problem. I got the seat and the bill for the service however the charge for the seat wasn't on it. So I called and told them that I hadn't been charged. They looked over the bill and realized their mistake so they sent me a new bill just for the seat. When I opened it the bill was for $0.00. It also said "Merry Christmas".

Now my reason for writing is 2 fold. 1. because I've been very happy with this dealer and their service (and of course the free seat). And 2. because many people are claiming that their dealers are quoting an outrageous price. On my bill the retail price was $175... or $179. I just wanted people to know what a reliable and fair dealer actually quotes as the retail price.

Yes, in my mind the seat is worth the $179. We lost all of our snow out here in the past week but I was able to get out today and use the tractor without heavy clothes on. Now I can tell the difference!

Good luck to those of you who have yet to get your seat. With persistence you will.

Stowiski,
The seat I was looking at the dealer for $600 was a Michigan Tractor Seat seat that cost aroud $300 from Norhter Tool. I never priced the replacement thru parts.

Craig S,
I think you are failing to see the point here.

I did sit on the seat, the more I sat on it and drove the tractor the more I ended up under the streering wheel.

So I contacted Kubota customer satisfaction and complained, not expecting them to replace the seat for free. In fact I was all ready to buy a Michigan Tractor Seat seat for $300 but was told to check with my dealer. So I did and he dropped a price of $600 for a seat similar to Michigan Tractor Seats seat.

I waited awhile and found other people on this site complaining, then found out Kubota had issued a bulletin replacing seats for a marginal cost. I put my name on the list expecting a resonable wait.

Now the point I am trying to make here is that Kubota never contacted me or anyone else that sent in a customer satisfaction survey and complained about the seats. No dealer called me and gave me a heads up on this (in fact they all acted like thier hair was on fire when I went there and asked about it). I don't think 7 months is a resonable wait when Kubota emails me that they have all the seats anyone could want in the parts dept. waiting to go to customers. SO WHERE IS MY SEAT?

I don't expect a seat for free and would gladly pay for it, just not twice what it should cost.

The problem is the poor corperate response from Kubota, I honestly think the dealears are trying to respond to this. I just think the whole thing has tarnished Kubota by mishandling this in many ways. Come on Kubota you come out with a program because people are complaining and you never contact the people that prompted you to look at your product in the first place. Then you don't ship the seats to the dealers that only order a few seats but ship them to dealers that order 100s so they can give them away to anyone that drops by. I DON"T GET IT....

No Gomer, I'm not missing the point. You had everything you ever wanted and dreamed of.

Got a call from the dealer a week before christmas saying Kubota was sendeng a seat out special for me and he would take one off a new tractor if I wanted him to

You refused. My point is there are two sides to every story. In business, there's only so much abuse somebody's gonna take before they give up. No amount of business will make up for it. Why didn't you accept the seat?

Now, I bought Kubota because it is a no bull, work oriented company that builds machines with integrity at a reasonable cost. I shopped around. And realized that for me, that's what I wanted. Now if I wanted a guy to run out and put a doily on my seat each morning, I'd have bought that. If I wanted a bunch of plastic handles that looked pretty, I'd have done that. Or if I wanted a tractor that was just drop dead gorgeous, but had rubber hoses hanging under in dangerous places, I'd have done that.

I hae the old seat and have spent over 100 hours on it. No problem. I'm just an average guy, 5' 10", 175 pounds. I've never "slid under the wheel" or felt uncomfortable while working. And I'll bet there are thousands like me.
