I'm saying this thread and the demands placed/expectations of some posters has, in my opinion, gone a little over-the-top.

Kubota produced and provided the new seat as a response to some customers. What I percieve happening now is good old piling on.

You can bet that Kubota will respond - or not - differently in the future, because this is causing them significant good will and dollars.

Craig

Craig, forgive me, but this is NOT the case as you described. I have a Kubota Corp. PIB document, stating that I should get a replacement seat, since my tractor was purchased during the specified time period for coverage.

There is a big difference between sitting on a seat for 5 mins than for 4 hours.
Also a difference on level ground versus a hill.

This is a problem they created by sourcing an inferior part, and now they have chosen to make good on it. Kubota chose to offer a replacement seat for ALL tractors within a given Date period of Sale, not just "some" customers as you have stated. Kubota realized this was a very large Customer disatisfier and chose to rectify the problem.

They also chose to offer the seat at wholesale to those who didn't qualify within the proper timeframe.

Even though it appears by their documentation, I should get a repalcement for free, I would even be willing to pay the wholesale Cost given for those outside of the time frame.

As far as Kubota responding: What they are responding to is their market share and their customer satisfaction. They would not have made this offer and sourced production of what will most likely be many thousands of seats without giving it a lot off thought. This situation will make them think twice about their parts quality, as it would have been a lot cheaper to do it right the first time.

My problem is more with my dealer, and whoever said it, is correct, I do need a new dealer! I would have driven 3 hours north and purchased it from Messick's, had I only known.

I don't see any piling on? Kubota states in their own corporate documentation they will offer the replacement, so be it.

Manufacturers send out Service Bulletins to advise dealers how to correct problems that are causing numerous customer complaints. THESE ARE DIFFERENT FROM RECALLS! I would guess everyone who bought an early BX 2350 or BX 24 received a notification of the seat retainer RECALL. Recalls are almost always safety related. The government has ways to force manufacturers to notify owners of serious safety problems and to correct the problems.

Issuance of a Service Bulletin such as the availability of the replacement for the uncomfortable seat would never require customer notification. I don't know of any manufacturer that is anxious to give a way significant amounts of money to replace a part that has caused a problem for only some owners. Service Bulletins are usually implemented only when a customer complains. I found the old seat uncomfortable but not to the point that I didn't buy the tractor. I found out about the replacement seat from this forum and was quite pleased to make some calls and wait some months for the free seat. Kubota did not owe me a replacement seat nor did they owe one to anyone else on this forum. The replacement program is a good will gesture and satisfaction enhancement program. I appreciate it immensely and am really impressed Kubota chose to do it.
Kubota does not make these seats! It appears the supplier was overwhelmed by the orders. My guess is that this website added greatly to the number of seats necessary to complete this program. Most of us would never have complained even to the dealer and would not have known of the replacement.

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Take it when you can get it. If it aint free, and you don't wanna pay shut up and move on.

Thank you Harry. That's getting at what I mean. In a way smarter way than me.

Kubota offers a seat to those of us that have spent $10,000 - $20,000 . In turn we give them our old seat along with $30 or so. Kubota MADE THIS OFFER TO US!! I don't think its to much to ask, to actually receive this new seat and not have a kubota dealer try screw us by paying way to much $300:eek: Gomer purchased his tractor spring of 2007!! According to the memo he should be able to get one of the new seats! PERIOD!

That's all good. I'm not saying the new seat isn't better. I'm saying this thread and the demands placed/expectations of some posters has, in my opinion, gone a little over-the-top.

You did sit in the seat before you bought it, didn't you? Did it hurt?

Craig S,
I was trying to be a nice guy and not make the dealer take a seat off a new tractor and that I could wait a week seeing as I have waited 6 months already. Well that week has turned into a month. I should have just bought the Michigan Tractor Seat, problem solved. I was trying to expalin the frustration with the whole process from the beginning and see if anyone else was as frustrated as myself. My problem is with Kubota and them not fulfilling on their promises not you. You are entitled to your opinion and me mine. Good Luck

Where can I find a copy of the Kubota Corp. PIB document. I just want some documentation before contacting my dealer beacuse it sounds like I may be out by date if I should have contacted them before July? I have a bx1850 purchased in Dec 06.

You want a new seat, your dealer said he'd give you a new seat off a new tractor, you said no, you chose not to have your new seat, you hang on to your "problem with Kubota" I don't get it.
