Kubota produced and provided the new seat as a response to some customers. What I percieve happening now is good old piling on.
You can bet that Kubota will respond - or not - differently in the future, because this is causing them significant good will and dollars.

Craig, forgive me, but this is NOT the case as you described. I have a Kubota Corp. PIB document, stating that I should get a replacement seat, since my tractor was purchased during the specified time period for coverage.
There is a big difference between sitting on a seat for 5 mins than for 4 hours.
Also a difference on level ground versus a hill.
This is a problem they created by sourcing an inferior part, and now they have chosen to make good on it. Kubota chose to offer a replacement seat for ALL tractors within a given Date period of Sale, not just "some" customers as you have stated. Kubota realized this was a very large Customer disatisfier and chose to rectify the problem.
They also chose to offer the seat at wholesale to those who didn't qualify within the proper timeframe.
Even though it appears by their documentation, I should get a repalcement for free, I would even be willing to pay the wholesale Cost given for those outside of the time frame.
As far as Kubota responding: What they are responding to is their market share and their customer satisfaction. They would not have made this offer and sourced production of what will most likely be many thousands of seats without giving it a lot off thought. This situation will make them think twice about their parts quality, as it would have been a lot cheaper to do it right the first time.
My problem is more with my dealer, and whoever said it, is correct, I do need a new dealer! I would have driven 3 hours north and purchased it from Messick's, had I only known.
I don't see any piling on? Kubota states in their own corporate documentation they will offer the replacement, so be it.
