New warranty BX seat!

Well, I'd like to thank you all for making me aware of the problem with the seat. Prior to a few days ago when I first read that Kubota had made a replacement seat for my BX 2350 it had never occured to me that the seat was uncomfortable. Today I spent 3 hours mowing and all I could think of was how very uncomfortable my crappy seat is. How I was indeed sliding foward and getting a wedgie. Now I have to bring it up with my dealer and maybe get some runaround and certainly pay at least $50 for the new and improved seat. Thank you all.

Seriously, I am glad to be aware of it. Even if I didn't have a problem with the seat, I would still want the new one because I can picture 5 or 10 years from now trying to sell the tractor and getting a call from someone who did a search of these message boards and being asked if it had the replacement seat on it.

...any of us KNOW we had to order it by June 15th if we don't get...

Totally agree with the way this seems to be going down. Enlighten the dealer and hope that 100% of them know how to handle the issue in a methodical manner?

The key point here is that THE DEALER YOU TALK TO orders the seat by June 15th. Mine ordered 42 of them. Nobody told me and I swing by there to chit-chat about once a month.

To date, 2 (of 42) have been spoken for. One of 'ems mine. The rest, I assume, will end up on the dealer's tractors on the lot and whatever service engagements they get in the coming year.

Just dont feel too much urgency here. Wish I did. Feels the same as the fender thing. Up to you to find out what the deal is or maybe your dealer will share it with you AFTER you crack your fender one morning.

Bummer. These things cost every bit as much as ANY car on the road...BX worth a Civic...L worth a BMW 328, perhaps...you'd like to see some dialogue sometimes.

I was talking to a representaive at Kubota Canada today telling him how the sit is so uncomfortable and that in the US Kubota is doing the honourable thing and replacing these seats with the newer model seat . I stated that they have a good product but a happy customer is also good for business in that one lost sale as a result of a disgruntled customer due to a recognized problem with their seats can cause a greater lost to the business than the cost of replacing the seat. The seat up our way cost 250 dollars Canadian. ANy way he said he would froward my concerns to the upper management. I wonder how blue I will be before they call me,lol.

well I got a call from the kubota dealer here in Newfoundland Canada toad and they said they were talking to head Kubota offfice and that they would let me have the new seat for 100 dollars instead of the regular retail price of 225 dollars. well I was surprised at the prompt response.I still feel they should be replacing them. If in the future Kubota is pressured enough and they start to replace them for free, lol, I will ask for a refund of the 100 dollars.

I was told by my local, non original dealer that the cost is only 25?

We'll see soon enough.

I would have paid $50 or $75 for it. It's that much better.

Here's my contribution to this discussion...
I read this and thought - "you guys are all crazy - the seat isn't great - but it's not a big tractor... so what do you expect... it's about on par with the old Wheelhorse seat".

Saturday I stopped by the seemingly never open dealer in Palmyra to look at the bigger rides... and they happened to have a new BX24 on the lot (with the upgraded fenders and fancy welded on braces under the floorboards)... anyhow - I noticed the seat looked a little different... so I climbed on to put this thread to bed in my mind...
OMG - call your dealer now!
I'm a lightweight at 165 - but WOW - does this new seat feel awesome - super contoured - doesn't feel like it's pushing you forward - comfy support... I wanted to rip it off and use it for my Lay-z-boy... (OK - maybe not quite that comfortable) - but it's a complete winner.
So - I called my dealer first thing Monday morning - he has 18 ordered - I'm #7 on the list - will cost me something like $28 bucks - and when I go get it - he's gonna give me the floorboard retrofit kit for my older designed fenders and let me put that on too!
In the conversation Tommy (Jr. of the dealer) actually said - "tractors are tractors - we know it's all about customer service" - man don't they... it's all of 5 minutes to the Palmyra dealer - and 'bout 50 to the Alexander dealer... and I never think twice about making the trip... ever.

Musclford the difference is that I am in Canada so there is the differrence in the dollar then the cost of shipping to Newfoundland, Canada the most eastern point in the North America and Kubota Canada is not recognizing the seat problem and admitting. I put the Screws to them to some degree telling them they were at a greater lost then 225 dollars if a disgruntled customer could deter one person from putting out 25 to 30 thousand for the tractor. I think once I said that to them they seen the light. I told them I didn't wxpect it for nothing and was willing to pay that price, but they won't be getting the other seat back . I am going to keep the other seat for someone I don't like , my boss comes to mind,http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Everyone notice that the letter is clear in saying that the seat replacement applies ONLY to tractors invoiced (i.e. SOLD) from May 1, 2007 on, right?

If you bought your tractor, whatever model, before May 1st of this year this seat thing does not apply to you.
