I had the original seat on mine and suffered with it. It's the kind of thing you don't notice until after you've had one of these with the old seat for a while, and spend longer lengths of time on it. Even then, at least for me, I didn't really associate the ergonomics of the seat with my discomfort and sore back and legs, etc., for quite some time. I finally sort of figured out that it was the holding-yourself-back-in-the-seat-all-day that was causing it.
I bellyached about the seat on these machines a couple times on this site in somewhat related threads. Someone asked me if I had gotten the seat replaced, and I also found the thread on the replacements that dealers had been doing. (I joined this site well after the replacement program had expired, unfortunately.)
Like you, I searched around a bit but I guess I knew that I really wanted a Kubota seat. I finally just ended up working with my dealer to get a current BX seat at a reasonable price. They were no longer doing a free replacement but I thought they did right by me. You should give your dealer a call and see if they might be willing to work with you on the price some...
