Buying Advice New with 35 hours from dealer?

Total BS! Moving around the lot would be 1-4 hours. Add a bunch of demo use, and maybe 10hrs would be reasonable. Drop $1k, and throw in the first service for free, and maybe we'd have a deal....but with this as the starter, I'd never go back there.

keep looking, it's already a good way to the first service bill and the $200 "deal" won't even cover that.

new does not have 35 hrs - that is a used machine, even if only by the dealer

Sounds fishy to me - like someone returned it with 35 hours on the clock and the dealer doesn't want to tell you why.

That it may have been returned with 35 hours is not so fishy to me. Lots of people trade up after buying too small, or get in over their heads. But the dealer trying to sell it as new is BS, and 35 hours is 35 hours, period. Do not give this dealer your business.

In 1998, I bought a JD 870 from a dealer that had 35 hours. The story on this tractor was it had been repossessed because the 70 yr old who bought it originally ran off with a 35 year old woman. It now has almost 900 hrs and the only problem I've had is the battery had to be replaced about 5 years ago. I'll bet I am happier with the tractor than he is with the woman.

You may have to wait until you are 70 years old and run off with a 35 year old gal to really know for sure.

I have heard that 15 hours is the limit for "new" in most circumstances. It could well be that there is a good reason for the hours, but the reason given is bogus. Let's say they donated the use of a tractor for a weekend to pull an arena drag for a high school rodeo event. That can put on 10-15 hours. But in cases like that, you just tell folks that it is discounted because of such and such, but will be sold as new as far as warranty registration. Then maybe it went to a show and then was demo'd. You can get in the 10-15 hour range with those factors, but 35 hours is a used tractor, a returned tractor, or something. Just make sure it is really 35 hours, not 3.5 hours. That mistake happens more than you would think.

No indication of the tractor's size.
Many/most Cat 1 tractors are week-enders, e.g. they get a couple of whole day 10 hour "novelty" uses, then mostly 3 or 4 hour Saturday morning mowing.
35 hours is about right for a returned "Novelty wore off" compact or scut.

When I bought my first compact tractor it had 22 hrs. The salesman was honest with me and said a friend of the owner had used it for moving mulch and other landscaping. It was a 07 and I bought it in 08. So a leftover.

He already offered me a low price and went down another 1500 dollars and threw in the 50 hr service.

I put about 330 hrs on it and sold it to my brother n law. It still runs fine.

I guess it depends on the condition of the tractor and what you feel is a good deal.

Thanks for all the comments. I've been looking for tractors for the last 6 months, I like the RX6010 on price and features. However, I am a little confused and concerned about the dealers. I contacted two dealers in NH, Maine and NY and only one responded with a quote despite the fact that I called and spoke to each one. The dealer in NH that has the tractor kept saying that 30 hours is new and during the past winter, they would have to start it, warm it up, move it around the lot and that is where the 35 hours came from. He said that they consider 'use' hours and not 'running' hours on maintenance. Seemed fishy to me and the whole Kioti dealer network in NH, ME and NY seems fishy since they don't quote out other prices.

So I guess I am back on the drawing board regarding tractors.
