newbie diesel owner questions

I've been reading up on power service additive for my truck. Is this something you guys do or is this more for newer trucks (08 on up)?

Being in LA you will not have to deal with the gelling like we do up north here. I would just run PS if needed or maybe one or two tanks a year to help keep the fuel system clean.
