Newbie FEL operation question

/ Newbie FEL operation question #11
You'll get the hang of what the FEL can and can't do after a little while. I never had operated a piece of equipment before trying to use my FEL but I just found an open area in the back so I couldn't hit anything and I had at it. Good luck. . .

Bird has it almost right. The 7 o'clock position (curl + lift) is the only position where both functions must overcome the forces of gravity. All other positions that use both functions have one of the functions taking advantage of gravity. This helps the hydraulics considerably for the function that is lowering or dumping.

Thanks everyone - it is now much clearer as you have xplained it. Interesting how some experienced users can explain something so much better than whoever writes the operator's manuals!!!

I have only been a member on this site for a matter or weeks (and a tractor owner for a matter of days) and it amazes me how much assistance everyone has given both in chosing the right machine for me and in helping in my first tentative steps in the seat.

Hopefully, after a few hundred hours in that seat I'll be able to help others in a similar sitaution to that I'm in now.
