Thanks for all of the replies so far. I don't know that it makes the decision any easier, but it will be more informed.

Jay- I looked at the Kubota L2800 too, and from what I saw it did not have a live PTO. It ran through the transmission with an over-riding clutch (so that the implements angular momentum wouldn't drive the tractor). Can anyone else clarify this? Also is there a difference between live vs. independent PTO's?

Thanks again!

The Kubota is a great tractor, but dont be afraid of the Kioti, they get very good reviews and are very dependable, If I could get more tractor for the money I wouldn't worry about either brand.Terminology for me gets cofusing, but until someone can elaborate on the pto here is my understanding, Live pto and indepenent accomplish the same thing..... being able to run the pto while sitting still and keeps implements from pushing the tractor. However alot of live pto are controlled with a 2 stage clutch.....push in half way and the pto keeps running but the tractor stops.. push in all the way and the pto stops also. An independent pto is usually controlled by a lever or swith and is not controlled by a clutch at all. It probably goes deeper than that ie. whether or not the pto is drive is seperate from the trans mission etc. But that is the basics in how I think it would aplly to operation. Good luck!
