OK, I know this may be a completely stupid question, but I'll ask anyway: does a four foot rotary cutter and/or a four foot box blade fit in the back of a pickup truck?

I ask since I would need to rent a truck to get my attachments home and wouldn't be to happy to find out that the cutter, or blade, is too big for the truck after shelling out the cash on the rental.

Thanks!

Just a thought. If you have a vehicle with a hitch, or access to one, why not rent a trailer from some one like U-Haul. They have a car carrier that would also make unloading easier. Unloading from a rented pickup may cause damage.

4' anything will fit in a mini-van. You could probably get the dealer to deliver it for you, no charge. All the JD dealers around here will do it. That's why I stick with them.

Here's a pic of a 5 footer in my truck. Wouldn't do it again. Guess you could say it fit like a tight glove.

He owns the tractor, wife owns the pickup.
I can't see any reason why you can't haul both of them in a p/u (8' bed) at the same time. You might scratch the paint on them getting them loaded or unloaded, but they will fit. Might want to put the boxblade in the nose and the mower in after it. The tailgate down gives you room for the wheel to hang out. Tie them down extra well if you leave that tailgate down, and I don't mean with bungy straps.

If it's going to be a rental pickup... I'd say sure, why not? :)

If you were talking *MY* pickup, I'd say no way.

It's not so much the "fit" inside the bed, but what possible damage you can do getting them in and out of the truck.

Trailer is the way to go.

If you don't have forks on the front of your tractor, you're going to have a hard time lifting them out. Also - If 4' implements, I'm assuming a smaller tractor. Might have trouble even lifting the 4' cutter in the first place...

If from a dealer - they should happily drop the attachments off. If it is TSC, well then you gotta DIY.

I went to HD and got one of their trucks for $19 bucks for the first hour to get my grapple when it came in. The bed is much bigger than a standrd PU and the price was cheaper. It took me about 59 minutes to pick it up off load it and return the truck so I don't know what the second hour costs.

We have a small cheap utility trailer that we used for our 6.5' disc harrow, which probably wouldn't fit in the 6'3" bed of our pickup. Anything else goes in the pickup with tie-down straps. My Deere dealer delivered my initial implements; other purchase we've had to bring home ourselves. I can't see fitting a rotary cutter in a pickup bed comfortably.

If your pickup doesn't have a bedliner, and you like it, don't put implements in there. We are soon going to be testing the warranty on our spray-on bedliner which has chipped in several places from being used (gasp) as an actual truck.
