Tractor started right up. It's the PTO safety switch. The lever does not push the button down far enough. In about five minutes it will be referred to as the "previous" PTO safety switch. Appreciate all your help, all of you ,

Intermittent issues can be difficult to diagnose, but the good news is that 9 times out of 10, it's a simple fix.

Start with the obvious (Loose wires, poor connections), then test the safety switches. Also check the ignition switch. I seem to remember reading that some models had issues with their ignition switch and water (?).

That's terrific news!!!! You must be SO relieved! Sorry you lost so much time diagnosing the cause, but now you're up'n running again and that's what counts.

These new India made tractors have caused me to write to my legislators. I want a new law. All the nuts and bolts to be used in the US MUST be SAE. This crap of 3 bolts being SAE and the 4th being metric is just that!

Everything that came from India carries metric, but they source all the additional stuff from the us, like the FEL, so that hardware is SAE.

I'd rather it went the other way, all metric and let's kill the idiotic imperial measurements and the fractional crap once and for all. We're the ones dragging our feet, the rest of the world went metric years ago.

BTW glad you found the faulty lawyer switch. I figured it'd be one of them because it's a common as dirt problem with Mahindras and other makes as well.

It's unfortunate you spent hours in the heat tracing things down, but I am glad you found the problem. The PTO switch is what we always test first, it's probably the biggest offender as far as switches go and only takes minutes to test. But cleaning and tightening all of the connections was not a waste of time. It is good to do that every few years, but few of us do so unless we have a problem.

Please fix the PTO switch and do not leave it disabled. It is one of those safeties that actually makes sense and should never be left out of the loop except for testing.

Its one of the switches. I don't remember any that havnt at least ticked when its just a low battery and yes the lights are a good tool also

pull the pto lever back.. remove the brass cover over the pto switch.. then push the lever back forward first to be sure its hitting the switch. if so then press it in manually and see if it clicks...

I think you nailed it a week ago.
