News on RTV shaft rattle?

I'm also feeling the frustration. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
However my dealer is saying that Kubota is acknowledging the driveshaft issue and is working on a solution. I just don't know how long my patience will last. I get tired of hearing my wife say, "Man, this thing is loud" everytime she rides or drives it. I just got mine back from the dealer for a "final" fix and it was not even close to a cure. I actually believe it is louder now than before. And, I still have fogging gauges!

Dargo:

I would think that when your RTV is out of warranty Kubota would still fix the problem at no charge since the problem pre-existed. It's funny that Kubota never heard of these problems. I guess it's better to play dumb.

Well, there is no question in my mind that Kubota is aware of the problem based upon what my dealer told me regarding his phone conversation with them. I really like the RTV, and it is a few fixes from being top of the line. I guess Kubota has some decisions to make. Once again, it is not a matter of doing what is right, they are driven by their financial bottom line, and in the process missing the whole point: if you take care of your customers and fix problems, the customers will take care of your bottom line. This is my first Kubota purchase. I am looking for a new compact tractor and right now, although I like some features on the Kubota, thats all their going to get is a look. They have just lost one potential sale.

I don't know what impact this might have, but has anyone thought about sending the link to this forum to Kubota's customer service or tech support rep's site so they can see what problems just a fraction of their customers are having with their RTV? It might have no impact at all. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
If someone knows the correct link, and not the one where it will get filled in "drawer 13", let me know.

get a gator hpx it'll go more places then a rtv and from what i have been reading on other sights it's alot more reliable then the rtv. rtv's are nice but they are two nice for thier own good if you know what i mean. i passed by the rtv dealer but never gave them a second thought about buying one they are mainly a constuction sight vehical(thats my opinion) .

I'm definitely going to look at an HPX again if Kubota can't get their little issues lined out. The only problem I have is that the HPX is not has heavily built, it does not have power steering, and it uses the old technology (and cheaper) belt drive system. The transmission in the Kubota RTV is without a doubt stronger and is more expensive. If it wasn't for those short comings of the HPX, I'd have one. Also, I've read at numerous sites that the gas powered HPX's have some real drivability issues and starting problems.

For right now, I'm holding out for a while hoping that Kubota will do the right thing. If not, I may have to settle for the diesel HPX. As I said, it's not as beefy, has the old fashioned belt drive tranny, and doesn't have power steering, but these constant little issues on the RTV are starting to get to me.

yea i guess you would get uesed to that power steering. but as for beafyness the hpx got it it's rugged the frame doesn't give one bit with a load in it goin over bumps. i would have to say the only bad thing about the hpx is the steering. i to wish it had power steering .

Up date: Put about an hour on the RTV yesterday, no front drive shaft rattle so far.

Give this issue some time guys. I am sure a solution is comming. When you read these forums it sounds like this is some kind of cronic problem, but I think its the same people fussing every time. We have sold probably 40-50 RTV's and I have not heard of any of them comming back with driveline problems. I have seen 2-3 posts on the internal technical system from dealers with machines that have issues, each one of those has said a solution is in the works. This stuff does not happen over night and there is no way they will rush out a fix that is not going to hold up.

Count me in when there is a solution, I have 132 hours on my RTV900 and the shaft has been rattling since 80 hours.

To keep the noise from bothering me, I taped the shaft at the spline and u-joint, both ends. It works for about 20 hours.

The main reason I did this was to minimize the wear on the bearings and spline until a long term solution is available
