The only thing I'd do is stop cutting the grass.

I would not offer to buy the parcel (again), nor would I tell them I was going to stop cutting the grass. Why? Doing either of these before stopping cutting the grass will look like you're reacting to them or being vindictive. By this advice, I am not suggesting you should care what they think of you. Rather, I am looking down the road if this situation degrades into a legal battle after you report them for violating the weed ordinance. I can hear them claiming to the authorities that you were the one who always cut the grass and you stopped doing it because they wouldn't sell you the parcel.

Just stop cutting the grass. If it gets too tall, then file a complaint to the local authorities about it. If they're as lazy as your posts indicate, they might come to the conclusion that it's easier to sell the parcel to you (and get more $$$ for beer) than mow it.

I'd let this scenario play out before going through the cost of erecting a fence. I imagine if you end up buying the parcel, you wouldn't want the fence?

Danny D, If I didnt know better, I would say I live on the other side of your neighbor. Man, I mean right down to the toys, bikes / motorcycles, hundreds of beer cans, and deadbeats.
6 months ago, and after being a nice guy, and the mother (polite lady), being terrified of copperheads and mocasins asked could I help? We don't have much money and our garden tractor broke (3 years ago) I helped, brush hogged and then finished mowed the front half, around the house only. There was just too many bottles, various metal pipe, car parts and in general, tractor killers, on their back acre. And, of course no charge.

Just recently-early July, their trash pick up discontinued, electricty and phone shut off, they begged me to use the phone for emergencies. Of course (we are good guys, right?)
And there are at least 2 emergencies a day.

This is going to kill you (LOL), THE FINAL STRAW. The father(?) while walking over to my property, with a CELL PHONE in his ear, asked if he could barrow one of my tractors.

Sorry, long story short, I (YOU) can not help these people. I will continue to offer help with others, as they seldom ask. And those who continually ask / expect help, I will try to avoid. (Yesterday) My brother called to inform me (he stays at my property) that their house is in forclosure, 2 of the 4 cars repo'ed and stated that they would fight the bank and stay until they are physically thrown out.

BTW Last month, a neighbor with a 12 year old horse that died in the night, ask me if I would mind moving the remains to a hole he was digging (by hand). He arranged for a friend with a backhoe to come, but he needed to do the unpleasant before his daughter returned from her weekend trip.
I was glad to help. He never asked for anything before.

did i mention that they too have cell phones, all of them, and high speed internet access for IM'ing people. I am threw with it. The son was out today, saw me working on my other neighbors (old lady, nice, and has loaned me many things, like her Toro tillers when I needed), never askes for anything either. Today I was taking out some flowers she had near my place /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif, I hated mowing around them, afraid I was going to kill them, anyway the boy just stood there watching as we man handled them, no offer to help. I weed killed the whole place today, no offer and he was there watching.
