This tractor gets rebuilt by Deere...
I've never seen a 4020 with folding ROPS, I'll bet that was a Deere add on.
Since Deere rebuilt it, I imagine they could be held liable if they didn't install a ROPS and it was involved in a rollover accident.

That is beautiful. If that tractor was completely redone from Deere I would bet it would be in the 30-40k range. I'd take a brand new 4020 over anything else out there in that power range. ROPS was option I believe starting in the 70's on the 4020.

Those are more of a collectible and usually fetch a pretty good price. Usually add on 2k or more if it's in really good condition. You're probably looking in the $8k range for one in poor condition and I would say $11k or more in the good condition range. I saw three sell last year. One was on a tractor that didn't even start so that one is hard to say. It still brought $4500. The other one was pretty rough looking and alot didn't work on that tractor but it ran good and had a loader. It went for I think $8300. The other one was cherry and it also had a loader. It went for $17k and that was probably too cheap. The guy said he had more than that in the tractor and restore and I believe him. It was very nicely done.
Yooooouch better forget that idea then!! I was thinking it would make a good extra tractor to have around for haying, and cutting weeds,etc....... But not unless I hit the lottery by the sound of things. Thanks for the info, sir!!
I was planning on seeing if I can afford a new 4320 with a FEL. While waiting for my accountant to give us our end of year fiscal numbers I've been watching the papers.
There's a JD 4020 for sale for $8250.00.
I called the guy and he said it's 2WD, and was made in 1972. He has it stored an hour away from him so he doesn't know the hours. He's had it for 10 years and uses it for haying but a heart attack has slowed him down so that's no longer an option. He says he doesn't think he's put 500 hours on it in the last 10 years and thinks it only has about 2500 hours or so on it. He's going to get it out of storage Wednesday and is supposed to call me with the hours. He says the only thing with it is if he has baled 50 or so acres in one day he has to add oil. Is this normal?
Now everyone says there is no such thing as too much H.P. but I have 15 acres of pasture to mow and maybe till an acre or two. I guess I could box blade my property to level it out and make it drain nicely.
Is this thing just too darn big?
Thanks, /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
P.S.-He says he has about 5 guys interested so I need to know if I should jump at it.

If it only has 2500 hours that is a STEAL at $8250. If you don't want it and it really only has that many hours PM with the guys # and I will buy it. All old tractors use a little oil. I wouldn't be concerned with that much at all.
