LOL Jim! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I'm still in the early mode of customizing and individualizing my rig now that it has 40 hours on it. This weekend my 4 year old grandson is coming over for the Spring Botanical Garden Festival and he loves my tractors so he and I will do some work together breaking in the
L39.
Last night I installed my little Fiskars hatchet (14" handle and 7/8" thick axe head) by drilling into the left hand side of the empty dashboard above the clutch pedal to mount my quick-attach hatchet holder. It comes in handy allot whilst various land clearing projects and is right in my hand as I step off the machine.
I also installed a Fiskars Splitting Axe with 24" handle and 2 1/2" thick axe-head up against the right rear ROPS member and attched it to the ROPS with some 12" nylon ties. A Stihl foldable portable wood ripsaw is attached to the FEL hydraulic line on a carbiner for easy access too. The Stihl 028 20" chainsaw fits nicely on the BH deck too.
Our
L39 did not come with a horn, but it does have a functional horn button on top of the headlamp switch. I was able to locate the white plastic horn outlet down on the wiring harness adjacent to the inline diesel fuel pump and mounted an electric horn onto the engine compartment firewall back up against the fuel tank. It is an old fashioned "AHH OHHH GAA" type of horn. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Some advice to you too, be sure to remove the BT1000 BH plastic cover and tighten down and lubricate all the numerous valve controller fittings (8mm, 10mm, and 12mm open end wrench) and then lubricate them good. Many of mine were not assembled inline properly and none of them were lubed properly, so I covered the entire mechanisms with white lithium spray grease to insure their longetivity. That is about the only thing that I have been able to find on this beast that needed any real attention, and after tightening and lubing all the sloop in the joysticks was removed.
I also ordered a super heavy duty 1 1/2" toothbar from Carver's for the TL1000 FEL bucket, it should be here soon. I snapped off a tooth on an oak tree trunk on our L-3130 with the LA723 loader that I got that has 1" shanks, so wanted to be sure that I got an extra heavy duty unit this time around.
I'd also like to thank Ronnie Bowman at TractorSmart for providing the LTB39 parts manuals for the
L39, TL1000 FEL, and BT1000 BH, that is a great assest, especially when the Kubota USA website still has no mention of the
L39 model (got some oil filter, hydraulic filters, Kubota Moly EP grease, and Kubota SuperUDT from him too, as well as some metric grease fittings! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I am getting a new tiltmeter for the dash too.
I'm very impressed with this stout workhorse, the three cylinder engine is very smooth and extremely economical to operate, over 14 hours on <5 gallons of fuel and a pile of stumps ~15 high already! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
P.S. Check out this nice little BH thumb:
