It is about 82 inches, I measured it to fit into our barn door and was hoping that I would not have to store out in the pole barn. It makes it in the 84" barn door with about two inches to spare.....of course you DO NEED to remember to lower the BH boom first! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

What kind of 3pt hitch system does it have? I see no indication if it is draft / position control or some older technology. I don't see anything about telescopic lower link ends either /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif I do remember seeing some kind of ancient looking control system with a screw-in stop of some kind. Hopefully I'm wrong and Kubota didn't completely ignore the 3pt system on this new model. I want and intend to use it.

Jim, it is a simple position control 3pt system. The control lever is adjacent to the GST gear selector right next to the FEL joystick
It does not have telescopic lower links though. You can look at the standard links, they are stored underneath the BT1000 BH (looks like they help protect some of the hydraulic lines), the manual adjusters are attached to the side adjacent to the battery by the rear wheel.
There are two rods sticking out above the PTO shaft that you HAVE to move in after you remove the backhoe to divert the hydraulic flow to the 3pt arms. Also,you MUST lock the 3pt position control into its lowest position whenever the BH is attached, otherwise damage to the hydraulic pump is guaranteed.
I too plan on using the 3pt hitch too with a 6ft disc harrow, 72" BushHog, and 84" backblade, unfortunately I did not get the optional TNT for the 3pt, although that still remains an option as I use that all the time on our L-3130.

The L48 had a somewhat similar setup. A valve you turned about 90 deg to divert flow to the 3 pt and a pull handle that pumped the fluid to the hoe connectors. As I recall, the main pump ran the hoe while the second pump that pulled off the front crankshaft ran the swing. The more you guys talk about this little TLB, the more I want to someday rent one to see how it works. Sky, is the GST on the L39 identical to that on the L3130? I know the L3830 has a GST with 12/8 configuration and the local mechanic mentioned the L39 was built by much of the existing L3830 componets.

Yes Rat, the GST on both machines is virtually identical and super slick.
The power upgrade on the L39 from the L-3130 is significant though, especially the pure flat torque response up off idle (considerably louder engine exhaust as well) although I have yet to operate it over 1,500rpms at anytime during the first 50 hour break-in routine. I've been operating the BH at 1,200-1,300rpm and cruising and using the FEL at about the same level. Have 38 hours on it now, so it won't be too many more stumps and boulders until it is time for a complete oil change.....
During the break-in period, I've been adding 125ml of Amsoil Racing Two Stroke Full Synthetic ashless engine oil to the 10 gallons of BP Supreme 50 cetane #2 diesel.
Once I've broken it in, I've changing the engine oil to Amsoil 10W-40 Full Synthetic and replacing the hydraulic fluid with Kubota SuperUDT (it has two hydraulic filters). The L39 came from the factory with Super UDT in the GST tranny and hydraulics and it shifts effortlessly. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I was under the impression that one was supposed to vary the RPMs during break-in. Not full throttle, but close for a few minutes and move it around a bit. A steady x RPM can supposedly damage the cylinder walls (cut a groove). There are so many theories, I don't know what to believe. I've already had mine over 2100 to see how the hoe performed at full pump capacity. I don't think it hurt it.
The other thing I heard was full synthetic was supposed to be reserved for the third or more oil change in a new diesel. Again, more theory. I guess that's why there is a whole discussion section on oils and fuels. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Input requested....

Jim, I broke in my L-3130 same way and changed to full synthetic @50hrs and 675 hours later it runs like a lion and uses zero oil inbetween 100 hr changeouts.
I vary engine rpm and load constantly, but have not gone over 60% rated engine rpm (redline@2,700) except for short time.
Main thing is not to apply any heavy load during the first 50 hrs or get anything overheated. When I park it in the barn, it is still giving off that wonderful "New <font color="orange"> KUBOTA </font> " odor as it cools down. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I just took the plow off and put the hoe back on. Between me plowing, playing, and it actually earning its keep at a job site, my L48 puts in full days all week long. I put in about 10+ hours yesterday building a stone retaining wall out of 1K+ lbs boulders…..and I have to go back to work and clean out a huge orchard I take care of. The L48 is pretty slick with the 3pt hitch deployed. 20 minutes to take off the hoe properly and carefully, put on all the linkage and arms, and put on my plow. Not too bad and this in the freezing cold late at night or early in the morning. Sometimes the pins which secure the lift arm don’t slide as easily and require some lub, but not bad at all. L48 has nice visibility to the rear fore the 3pt hitch and the 15 degree lock for the seat is great.
I will take pictures I promise. Just too **** busy. I am trucking in rocks and setting them into place before the snow pack melts and I make a mess out of my lawn where I am building it. You would n’t believe the size of the rocks I can handle the loader and hoe. I very much doubt a L5030 and BH90 would even come close. I almost bought that set up…….and I would have never known the joys of the L48.
