That's great news....The L39s are being loaded as we speak. The Lord has cometh through for us kindred souls again! I was beginning to think these machines were part of a complex government conspriacy to keep us all working. Carrot and a stick kind of thing /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'd like to think mine is rolling down Interstate 91 northbound, but I have a feeling it's not. We're taking the kids to Disney World next week, so maybe she'll be in VT when we get back.

Sky, I would think you should have her by Tuesday or Wednesday, with first stumps pulled within 1/2 hour of arrival. The dealer will likely take a day to look it over and run through the Kubota check list before delivery. My brother and a good friend have already made plans to be at my place on delivery day.

When I went looking for my L48 at an unnamed local dealer, I saw they had a new L39 tucked away out back....and this was 2 weeks ago. I bet they are keeping it under raps. Big backhoe, the machine size doesn't look too much bigger. The curved hoe looks nice, but really the looks are decieving. The curve is mainly on top of the boom and the under side isn't curved that much. The arms sure are less angular though. Nice machine. P.s. Call Addington equipment and get the thumb...it make the backhoe 2X more the machine.

Maybe I'm exposing that I'm a city boy, but I have to ask. How do you farm weddings?

Curtis,

Interesting how the initial distribution worked out. That's just about the same time the attached L39 pics were posted from Maine. It was my understanding that the southern states were going to get theirs first....who knows. I must say that I'm glad mine was built within the last few days, so they had some time to dial-in any last minute changes / fixes.

Yeah the physical size is a bit bigger, but not much. It's still the replacement for the L35 so that makes sense. It weights quite a bit more. "Big Backhoe"....That's what I'm looking for and it's fun to hear. The hoe does look huge from the pics /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif That part makes the cost seems a bit easier to swallow. You're definitely getting something pretty nice for your money.

Addington Equipment, yep I've been to that site and think I've talked to somebody there. His thumbs are not cheap.....but I guess none of them are.

Also what's your thoughts on the static vs. hydro thumb... A thumb is on the immediate must have list.

Jim

Curtis,

From the looks of this photo, it looks like it's got quite a bit of curve to it. The bucket is tucked up nicely into the curve of the boom. The stick looks fairly standard, as most are with curved booms. Maybe this picture is deceiving. We'll have to see when she shows up /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Somebody asked me about wedding farming….I ended up with the large family farm when I was younger (10 years+ ago) and I needed to do something with it so I set it up specifically for outdoor weddings and events. Farming weddings sure beats working in the cube and sure beats real farming. Check out my web page curtisfarm.com.
The hoe is probably more curved than I remembered that day, but compared to the CAT backhoe I drive by frequently, no CUT hoes are that curved. My L48 has a quasi-curve to it, not much really, just at the base. There have been a few times when it would be nice to have that clearance, but not many. Mainly the needed clearance is right at the base of the boom. I use the back side of the hyd. thumb to clear away debris that gets too close to groom with the bucket. When you look at where the boom cylinder connects now as opposed to old, quite a difference. I wonder what the longer vs. shorter piston means. I know the L39 has more force but it seems there has to be a trade off???
Regarding the thumb issue of static vs. hyd….I say hyd. all the way. Although I have never owned a hoe before, having used one for the last 2 weeks makes me not want a static one. I paid $2,800 vs. 1K for fixed, and I feel the value will be there over time. If I didn’t bite the bullet at point of sale, I doubt I would ever purchase it….. and would have never known the joys of the thumb. If any one wants to come over and check mine out, please do. When I put my hoe back on (have been plowing with the L48) I’ll send photos.

Curtis,

What an amazing piece of property....just gorgeous. Those barns look great. I wish mine were that nice.

Yeah, hydro thumb would be sweet. Not sure it worth that much though....1K for static sounds about right /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Looks like I should have taken some more pictures for you guys. I went back up to that same dealer last weekend and the L39 was gone so it must have gone out to some happy owner. The dealer I took that picture at was Chappell's in Milford NH - so the L39's must be making their way up to the Northeast dealers at least a little bit.

Dealer just called to say the L39 should be here this Friday 3/4/2005 @$35K, and delivered to our farm Saturday! I think I'm going to name it the "StumpKnocker". /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
