No more V8 in F150?

Technically a 3.5L engine at about 14PSI of boost is displacing about 7L on each revolution. Not often does the ecoboost run at 14PSI, but it can as needed. It's not really replacing displacement, it's just using boost/compression to fit it in a smaller package and deliver it on an as-needed basis.

A 7liter displacement engine is equal to 3.5 liters and 1 bar or 14.7 pounds of boost. So from a pure mathematical standpoint, psi is a substitute for displacement.

As the fleet tests continue to prove the 3.5 ecoboost to be a longer lasting, harder working engine than the V8, the V8 demand will shrink significantly.

I think the difference for which line they get built on is more to do with the frame length/wheelbase than the bed sizes.

Mostly, however the 8' bed trucks (reg cab with 8' is same length as super cab / 6.5' bed or crew cab / 5.5' bed) are all built at KCAP.

I understand, I was just pointing out the only specifics based on bed size that I know of. The 6.5' boxes are built in both places. The 8' boxes are not.
OK, Thanks

Same one they're using in the van, yep. Power output hasn't been announced, but most are speculating that it will be less than both the gasser V8 and 3.5L ecoboost, figuring it will be tuned for fuel economy to compete with the Ram ecodiesel.

I thought the 3.2 in the Transit is an inline 5 built by Mazda...
The van diesel is an inline 5, not sure if Mazda builds it though.

Ford Duratorq engine - Wikipedia

Elsewhere i read that the Mazda B50 is replaced by a badge engineered Ranger, and the B50 didnt use this engine yet...

3.2 five would mean a 2.5 four.. what engine would it be based off then, because all other Ford diesels are Peugeot designs which replaced the old Transit 2.5 diesel... and in the landrover a V6 is used instead...

The 3.0 V6 going in the F150 is not the same as the 3.2 I5 in the Transit vans. It's essentially the same 3.0L Lion V6 used by Jaguar/Land Rover.

I still long for my old straight 6 Ford. A had a Chevy Coronado with the straight 5 Isuzu engine; for its class I could keep up with the 150s and 1500s. It was just too light for pulling my 16" trailer (tail wagging the dog) but it had super torque.

I bought a new F 150, 300 cu.in. 6 cylinder in 1975; great engine, TERRIBLE truck!

I read 2016 will be the end of the V8 engine for the F150, anyone else hearing or seeing this?

Was this information dated April first? I read another article talking about a diesel Corvette from that same day. ;)

No, its a pipe dream of all these tree hugging eco boom lovers. Some are so blind that they think that everyone should follow Ford...

Not gonna happen.

Yep, it's true! A four door diesel Corvette!

I heard, and it must be true, it was posted on the internet, all Toyota Tundras will be electric power.

Indeed, but what engine is the 3.2 based on then ? The only thing that comes close in regard of per cylinder displacement is the Mazda 2.5 I4 turbodiesel, WL engine.

Is it so important to have a light truck with a V8 engine? In Germany there is almost no market for such a vehicle. In spite of the VW diesel discussion we use diesel engines, 4 up to 6 cylinders. Excellent economy, durable and with much power in each situation. The other way: I hope for the Tesla Pick-up truck, full electric. With a farm and large roofs there is enough place for many solar panels for your own current flowing into the wallbox and the home own supercharger.

Yup, if they're smart they'll put a 240 inverter right off the battery pack so you can run anything from it without needing to lug a generator around. Won't be great for long trips but I could see a lot of people who do work around town taking advantage of it.

This was an utterly clueless comment.

Hah... you should see the posts he spews out in FP...

I have an 2015 Platinum with the v8, and a 2016 KR with the v6 ecoboost. Trust me, the ecoboost is far superior to the v8. I will say however, if you are a mechanic and know how to juice the v8, I hear they can be amazing.
