A little bit of power gain generally only gives a very very small amount of speed increase. Speed increase in a boast speed cost big money.
Adding more noise may not give any speed increase. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Beside if it makes to much noise, Jan may let you make all the noise by yourself. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Bone; When we stole Spike from his former keeper, I thought he was part Border Collie, and part something else. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif My vet, along with some other dog people are telling me he's all Border Collie. He's my favorite by far. I have problems with him fetching a beer. He always grabs two, one for him and one for me. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Yes, he likes to ride in Jans, the wuss truck, truck. In fact, he likes to ride in anything, except the TC, he keeps trying to herd it. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gifMust think it's Babe the Blue Ox or something. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ron; Well it was just an idea, but I think I'll leave things alone. Your right, too much noise and Jan likely wouldn't be on the boat at all /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. Guess I like the noise as long as it's someone else who has to live with it. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

johnday-

One more question. I see from google map monroe map that you are in/near farm country. What types of crops are grown in your area?

Happy Labor Day to all,

Bonehead

Bone; In this end of the state, the three big crops are corn, soy beans, and wheat. Not in any order. Every so often you run into oats too. Even with all the clay, we even raise potatoes in Monroe County. In the west side of the county, there are a few hay fields. Further north around Bay City, sugarbeets are a big crop, as well as more hay, along with the big three. Thinking about moving to Michigan? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gifYou could find a worse place ya know. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

John, I think Spike claimed the weed, he is standing on it, I daresay he may have 'marked' it too /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Pop down to the shop and get a can of tartan paint and yeh can paint him up to be a true scot /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Whats wrong with haggis, its just minced up sheep guts and undesirable parts of meat packed in a sheeps stomach, nothing wrong with it, goes down a treat with neeps and tatties /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Border collies are cool dogs, want one for myself maybe one day, as Bonehead says, I can train it to fetch beer when im too old and decrepit to go get one myself /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Actually it might be cheaper in the long run to get a wife, dogs arent exactly known for their cooking /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I know a family that bought a golden retriever. We figured they got it to raise their families average IQ /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I think ive figured it out, Spike must be part Collie part something else. Im guessing part Collie part English, afterall you did say he was smart. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
He clearly also has strong views about tractors seeming as the wont get aboard the NH. Maybe you should buy a Kubota and a JD to see which one he will get on, therefore proving that one is the best (in the opinion of a weed growing, beer drinking, part scottish dog. I guess when you look at it like that it doesnt apper so convincing /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif)
Have fun, get Jan out there skiing, im sure she'll really enjoy it /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

John,

Boats are funny in the sense that to increase
speed 10% it may take 100% more HP. Once
you surpass the efficient operation of the hull
form your toast.

I have a 36ft sailboat. It has a 35hp diesel in it...
Actually a Universal ( Marinized Kubota). That
engine will push that hull, a displacement hull,
to 7.5 knots without breaking a sweat. 100 hp
may get it to 8.5, and 200 hp may be just
dangerous...

Enjoy the boat as the mfg designed it to be
used. Keep her quiet so you can ride with
guests and have a conversation..

Safe boating, and remember the capt'n
is always the designated driver... No drinking
until back on shore.

Best regards,
Chris

The horsepower to speed ratio is not the same for small boats. My 22 footer originally had a 330 horsepower 454 in it. According to the old owner it could hit 65 mph at 4600 rpm's. My freinds 223 Formula with that same size motor tops out at 65 mph also. His boat is the same size as mine. My boat now sports a 260 horsepower 350 in it. The owner had it changed out so it wouldn't be so expensive to run. I've had it up to about 35 mph so far on the river and she was just cruising at 3400 rpm's. I'm hoping it will top out around 50 mph wide open throttle. I do need to take the boat out and see if the boat is propped right at WOT. The boat is slow coming out of the hole. I also noticed that my two spare props are both 17 pitch unlike the 19 pitch on the boat. now.

I guess that anyone who drinks his beer warm wouldn't mind a bit of doggie slobber too. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Actually, pooch drool does contain protein (mostly mucins) which everyone can use a bit more of, right? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Chalks away, mate! The alarm is sounding!

Now ya did it Mith, Spike is absolutely furious. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif He saw where you accussed him of bein part English, he's lookin for you guy!! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif Strange you should mention the family with the golden retriever. I've often suspected that was what was going on with a number of families I know of. I think the tip off was the long noses with 8 whiskers on each side. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
