Question for those of you who own these:

Lithium batteries do not like being stored long-term either completely full or completely empty. Most recommendations I've seen suggest storing some between roughly 30 - 80% (nd most seem to prefer the 50-80% range, since like most batteries, they will slowly dioscharge over time.)

How are you storing your boosters, and how often do you recharge when in storage?

i just charge to 75% and stop, and check yearly, hasn't been a issue

When I purchased the lithium battery for my dirt bike, I also purchased the recommended charger. After charging the battery, there is a storage mode. It says you can leave it attached but I remove it and recharge a couple of times a year. Battery still appears OK after more than fifteen tears.

The Lumber Wagon is my daily driver. It is a diesel and has a heater for better starting in cold weather. I would like to wire a charger/maintainer to the same cord. Is there a better one for a daily driver?

The Noco units come with a 24" fused cable set with battery clamps. It has a connector that can be easily disconnected so you can leave the short cable attached to the battery. Just disconnect it when you need to use the vehicle.

I do this with both my tractors and just tuck the connector under the cowling. It has a cap to keep out road debris.

If you want to hard wire to the battery, you can use this accessory:

I simply unscrewed the clamps and use the ring clamp directly on battery. Leave the connection outside the rig.

Make sure you get something IPS 65 rated or higher if you are going to mount it on a vehicle. You might be able to get away with IPS 53, but I wouldn't risk it.

Find out what the wattage for your block heater is. I think they are usually in the 400-500 watt range. The max on a 15@ circuit is 1,500 watts. A 10@ battery charger should draw less than 120 watts, not bad, so a smaller trickle charger so shouldn't load things much.

Waterproofing the household plugs could be a marginal challenge if you tie them together permanently in the truck. But it's not rocket science.

I thought about this project on my tractor, but never got around to it. Mount a nice small weatherproof generator inlet box & socket somewhere. Burning 500 wats to heat the block long term is rather wasteful if you tie the trickle charger & block heater together. I've got remote controlled outlets to fire up the block heater if I remember to plug things in. But a trickle charger won't do much in an hour & turning it off most of the time defeats the purpose.
