Noise maker on a timer

In my experience chainsaws and bulldozers are deer attractants...

Depending on the radio show, it could annoy them right into the next county.
Just hope they don't figure out the snooze button.

Tune it to Rush Limbaugh or Rachel Maddow.....if that don't keep the deer out.....nothing will!

So if a couple of real dogs don't keep the critters away, I don't have a lot of hope for a recording.
My Mother had problems with rabbits eating her flowers then they all of a sudden they stopped.

My Dad snapped this shot of the likely solution.

Can't remember where I've seen it but there is a mechanism that will fire a twelve gauge blank, you can fasten it to a fence post and run a trip wire off it. If you had several and the trip wires were the right height they'd scare themselves off and you'd just have to check and reload :)

That is a great picture and would definitely solve the problem!

Harbor Freight sells a wireless driveway monitor for $18 (on sale, most of the time). Range is pretty good and the batteries last a long time. I bought 4 of them after testing one for 8 months (still using the original batts). After you run out there a few times with a loud noise maker, they'll get the message.

You could probably do well with a laser trip system as used in garage doors/security systems, etc. Perhaps a motion detector too, but they never seem sensitive enough over a large area for many things.

You could, of course, just record an electronic BANG!!!
Or, play loud rock & Roll whenever the laser is tripped.

Could you make a pop-up scarecrow? Perhaps one of those fan filled inflatable thingys.

Whenever your laser is tripped, inflate the tube-man and start blasting obnoxious music. And, add some loud bangs too...
Just enough to make your neighbors think you are seriously disturbed.

Link to 12 gauge perimeter alarm. They also make it in a .308... Also, which I have never seen, a 12 ga to 410 conversion tube that also works in shotguns. The 12 gauge on a trip wire would be a great prank if anything. Check legality of these and use common sense if you decide to try them.

I just like shooting cats...:D

If you want to eat what is eating your stuff you can use something like this.

We use them for hog hunting but they will work for anything that has heat and moves.

A 12v IR sensor is the motion detector part of it, I use a "pet lens" designed not to trigger on small animals but the normal one even works on tiny birds. We just didn't want to drive all the way there and find a coon or rabbit.

The IR sensor triggers a timer/relay I built that powers up the radio (that's already keyed up) and plays back the location from the digital voice recorder.

We had good luck with AS SEEN ON TV Bell and Howell animal repellers but it has limited range and when the crop you're protecting grows high enough to block the beam, They'll eat right up to where the beam hits them again. Several of them around the perimeter aimed like a fence or the ones like jwmorris shows above or heat sensing ones should work OK lined up that way also.
We also tried the HF driveway alerts but any movement like a branch moving with the breeze sets them off. They were close enough to the house and neighbors they drove us crazy. T We now use the driveway alerts pointed down, to monitor our doors.

The last buck I took off our place was an 8 point that was about 50 yards from the feeder. There was a doe there also. I dropped the buck with a 7mm Rem Mag - which, as most of you know makes a VERY loud bang. When I pulled the trigger on the buck the doe jumped, ran a few feet - stopped for a moment to look at the downed buck, and then slowly meandered off. The inital BANG caught her attention, but immediately there after she was clueless. As such, you'll never convince me that scare tactics would work in the long run. The deer will eventually just ignore the noise...

Since I have a similar issue with our 4 acres of vineyard, we're in the process of installing an 8' deer fence. We've also clear cut around the vineyard by at least 75 feet on all sides and a good 150 feet from the back of the property (which is the direction they come from).

8' high (minimum) woven wire fence or a dog fence and dogs are the only methods that work here. I've seen 10' fences in WV where the deer lounge around everyone's yards in groups of 10-20. My neighbor attached an old circular saw to a motion detector and that has worked so far. But if you find something else that works well please let us know!

I'm no animal psychiatrist but I bet the doe froze because she was looking to take the lead of her man that bit the dust. Had you missed, I bet they would have both made a run for it... Buck in the lead.

Many experienced hunters know that a loud whistle will often stop a running buck in its tracks...
