Noise maker on a timer

I've got 18 Knee high maples planted along my driveway and lost a year's growth one time to deer eating the top buds off most of them in the spring. I used a trick my old man used in his high bush blueberries to keep the crows out; we tie aluminum pie plates to reebar posts. They're shiney and loud with the slightest breeze. My wife complained that they were loud and ugly so I took them down... sure enough a couple were eaten last year... so they're going back up until they get tall enough.

I"ve also heard that human hair in women's stockings keep them away... though I've never tried it.

Here's what you do,
You plant a feed plot (for deer) or set up a feeder near your "paying crops". Then you set up a deer blind. The deer will never come near any of it. Always worked for me on my deer leases. LOL
Always got my deer just walking through the woods.

I had good luck getting my plants to grow up enough to the point that I didn't need to worry about the deer "pruning" them, using the motion detector on a rain bird sprinkler(Scarecrow brand). Only thing is you have to cover all angles because they will keep looking for a weak spot and come around the edge of the sensor range if they can. They will walk though sprinklers, kind of like rain but don't like being squirted!

Animals will get used to a noise maker even if random.

ELECTRIC FENCE...there are solar powered models now that are the berries! Minimal white tape wire, fairly close to the crops, maybe two strands.

If at first it seems to not work, using the white tape version of fence and put a little peanut butter on the tape!

When it seems to be working, stop the peanut butter. After a while you won't even have to energize the white tape. The sight of it will scar them.

I have a seen a noise maker that used a fence charger hook up to a spark plge threaded into a steel pipe. It had a motion activated switch that would open a solenoid valve on an o2 and propane or MAPP tank. It was aimed up, It will also launch a pumpkin 50 feet in the air.

I put an industrial buzzer [ VERY LOUD ] run by an ON-OFF timer to control buzz on/off time and several bright strobe lights on posts out in the garden to try to save stuff.. all hooked up to run by a motion detector. I worked third shift when they came in... but the wife said that after a few nights they just stood out there and ate and enjoyed the 'disco' effect. Only thing that finally worked was tall T posts with an electric fence made out of the new tape type fencing....

Easy fix is to run 2 electric fences one inside the other about 3 feet apart. lean the Outside fence OUT not straight up and lean the INSIDE fence IN so the effect is the top of the two fences are farther apart than the bottom. Use solar charger and the WONT try & jump it the angles mess with their eyes and they stay out. best and only thing I have found.

I have also seen motion sensors that turn on sprinkler systems to run things off. I would guess they are less effective in the rain.
