Ruffian,

Mowing in high or low range is up to you. As long as the engine isn't bogging down and it's not too bumpy or steep for comfort, go for it. Most of my property is so rough and steep, I'm limited to low range. In high range it's just too hard on me and the equipment.

As for the seat, I (and some others on the forum) agree with you that it does seem to have a forward tilt that is a little uncomfortable. One solution is to cut a "ring" off each of the rubber seat springs. I haven't done this yet, but the guys that have report an improvement in comfort.

Happy tractoring!

I only WISH I would have upgraded to a 2520. Don't get me wrong, my 2305 has done everything I've asked of it, except pull stumps, but I have always wondered if larger tires would make the pasture bumps less noticeable, plus with a larger stance I could borrow more equipment from my buddy who has a full size tractor.
My 2305 overheated once...and come to think of it, I believe it had somewhere around 30-50 hours on it at the time. Fortunately no damage was done. I now have about 250 hours with no issues. The summers in central Alabama are quite warm and humid, so overheating equipment and users of equipment is something to be on the lookout for.
One thing that IS bugging me is the amount of grass clippings that accumulate around the rear PTO area and also on top of my Frontier GM1060 rear finish mower. Anyone else have grass issues back there or know of some way to keep the accumulation to a minimum? I clean it off after mowing but man its ALOT of grass each time.

The grass was not high since the horses had been grazing it but there were some tall weeds and thistle. Not real thick though and the mower never bogged down.

Don'tcha just love that selective grazing by those horses? They will wear out an area before taking to grass that's just a little too long. I guess they just prefer the new stuff.

Yes selective grazing does pose its problems. Which is why we buy mowers. I often think about how much better my retirement annuities would look if I had no horses. :p
