nortrac dozer trouble

The weather is still nasty, going to be 30 today {most of the weekend} but windchill will seem more below 0. Last week I was allready to get it out and start tearing it apart we hit high 30s-40s{beautifull weather}. Then I remembered where I live and that it is only march we have been getting rain snow sleet and just plain crap weather. I am hoping to get it out within the next couple of weeks. I'll try to post pictures and what has happened. I have to do the work outside because my garage is not big enough.

Just a simple update, started pulling things apart, been kind of a pain working on it in between nasty weather. I'll try and get some pictures this weekend. Today I hope to have it spilt just trying to figure out the best type of hoist. I was going to use a mini excavator but figure I'd like a little more control and be able to see what I'm doing. I'm not so worried about splitting as much as getting it lined up and back together.

FYI, a gantry crane works best, even outside with heavy plywood to roll around on.

Well I got it apart used the mini ex it was nice and easy with no problems, just took my time. I'll probably try to get some help lining it back up, the mini seemed to do okay. Well things didn't look horrible just rusty and covered in clay film{expected it}. I did get some pictures hopefully I'll get them on here in the next couple of days. I believe my problem was that I tore out the throw out bearing, the clutch didn't even look that bad. I did order all new parts{allmost $500.00} rather do a complete job and have piece of mind.

Parts came in yesterday not sure when I'll get back to work on it, snow rain and miserable weather today. Still looking for the cable to connect my camera so I can show some pictures :confused2:

Looks like it worked computer is slow, I have a couple more I'll post later.

As you can see the muck really caked onto/in the clutch housing. I did get a chance to work on it some, cleaned and replaced many parts. I do have the engine back into the machine, now I have a "bunch" of nutz and bolts to put back along with gaurds, front nose, radiator, etc...

Great pics :thumbsup:. Not bad for working in the field (brings back memories). Curious how long the tractor had been apart when the pics were taken?

Noticed what appear to be heat checks on the flywheel. Did you resurface it?

I didn't resurface the fly wheel, do you think it will be an issue? I did clean it up and everything seemed okay. Even though I have not started the machine yet I did have my son push the clutch while I turned the PTO shaft{while engaged}. Once the clutch was let out I could not turn the shaft. Before I did the repair I could not turn the PTO shaft even with the clutch pushed in. Everything went back together with ease once it was aligned. Hopefully I'll be able to finish tomorrow, possible break in the rain, might even have this thing they call sunshine . The engine was out of the dozer for 5 days I took the pictures right before I started cleaning and fitting everything back together.
