I have a new holland tc40da. I dislike its cup holder, plastic fenders, hydro fill location. , love its remotes, top and tilt, suspension seat, 4x4, pushbutton high low range.

Along with position control, telescoping check chains, and left/right brake and speed control pedals on same side, and no work lights ( headlights are useless with loader ) I 'll add lack of a good, convenient place to mount a decent tool box ( a must have ) . I knew ahead of time I 'd have to pony up more bucks, but I 'll do the pay as I go plan and add on.

But, I still love my orange tractor and what it can do that I couldn 't before !

It sure would be nice to buy one made in the USA by American workers that worked for an American Co. and made with USA parts!! Oh well, I got a Kubota, probably bigger than you have in mind, can't say much against it!

having owned two tractors before, I knew what I didn't like about them and that's why I bought an L4240. Frankly there's nothing I'd change about it. Ok, it's noisy.

I should have saved a bit more and gotten a bigger tractor. Not that my 2305 is underpowered....it does everything I need to do. I just want a bigger tractor.

My 1985 Ford 1510 is a bit older than many of the tractors being used by TBN posters (although not as old as some!) and as such, it doesn't have some of the usual features being found on today's CUTs and SCUTs, such as: Rear remotes, draft control, single joystick control for the FEL, stronger charging system, tilt and turn. Oh yeah, the headlights are in the rear fenders, which means the FEL renders them basically useless, and the power steering could be stronger.

I guess it all means I just have to take things a little slower, which can be a good thing in today's fast paced world.

It's funny, the thing I like the least about my tractor (L4240) is the exact same thing I like the most about it. The thing is big and heavy. When I'm out in the woods pulling logs or building road it's awesome. When I'm at the house leaving ruts on the lawn it's not so awesome.

For its main use I love it, but it is not a do it all without any trade offs type of machine. The thing I've come to realize from reading these forums for a while is that everyone goes into a tractor buying decision with different ideas about what they want, what they plan to do, and what they actually end up doing. If the machine/dealer/work done lines up with the tractor then everything works out great. But my opinion of a small job/big job/daily job is different from other owners. It doesn't mean my opinion is right, it's just my situation. Just like the soil type is different here than in the south.

The best piece of advice anyone ever gave me is to spend a bunch of time and try and figure out what I wanted to do, and then get a tractor that would be good at doing it.

What I like most about my 2001 JD 4200 is it's done everything I've asked of it and more.

What I like least is that the factory cab offered in Europe wasn't available in the USA and where the fuel tank is as lifting those 5-gallon fuel cans to fill the thing is a pain.
