Yanmar FX255D
is the wheel nuts on a yanmar FX255D tractor wheels 14 mm or 1/2 inches

Since most units come from offshore I strongly suspect metric.*
To make things confusing often loaders (and other accessories) are of local fabrication they could be SAE.

*if in doubt, take one wheel nut to the auto parts and they will confirm.

Thank you! for your help!

That is as I expected, the guy working on my tractor was testing my sanity ;-)

16mm rounds to 15.875mm aka 5/8-inch. :)

A 16mm socket will fit over a 5/8-inch bolt and loosen/tighten it. BUT, a 5/8-inch socket will not fit over a 16mm bolt. LOL crazy

I believe he is asking about thread diameter and not bolt head size.

I would bet money that unless someone has retapped certain holes there is not an SAE anywhere on that machine.

yes it is thread size, not bolt head size.
and yes the machine is all metric (I think) ;-)
The only thing that isn't metric is the tires.
Thanks to all for the help, one more thing does anyone know where I can get a copy of parts manual in English.

For an FX....forget about it. The only thing you will understand is the actual part number.

I have one more question about bolts, would you have any idea what size bolts are used to hold the front-end loader on 'in mid-frame'

'in mid-frame' ; I can't upload a photo so I might be able to give a good enough description.
A couple of bolts along the side in middle at base of the frame of the tractor to attached some front-mounted lifting device blade or some such thing.

I do have electrical questions but I'll start a new thread for them.
