Typical story here: Several years ago I had an encounter with three hunters who drove into my yard - parked & threw their empties in my yard. I approached them and they asked where they could park while they hunted my land. They had just come thru my gate with the large no trespassing sign and were obviously in some degree of intoxication. I told them that they were on private property and asked that they leave. One of the three said he knew and they would be leaving when they were dam well ready. If somebody had thrown a quarter on the ground, I would have shot all three on the spot - but I contained myself and instead called the County Sheriff. All three were arrested for trespass and their pickup was impounded. Never heard the end of the story, beyond their arrest, and I don't care if I ever do.
I get hunters accessing my property and the neighbors property every hunting season thru my gate. We try to find them, advise them and hope for the best. This has gone on every year for the 34 years I've lived here.
This year I put a large chain and lock on the outer gate. Went on the gate a week prior to hunting season and will remain until the season is over.
It just really galls me that I have to lock up my property to prevent an illegal act by others.
I apologize if my previous post- #45 - upset anybody, but that's just the way things are and after 34 years I've about had it up to here with hunters.
