Anyone using the Novajack Forestry Trailer? Looks interesting based on review I saw as well as their website. I like the fact that it can be used in the woods and on the road and can be pulled by an ATV for working.
Any feedback appreciated.

No, but it's a nice looking setup.

Considered the Novajack at one time but my father and I ended up taking it up a couple of notches and went with an Anderson - Majaco M-90 log loader. While designed to be used behind an ATV we use it behind a Kubota L3710, the only reason for doing this is because of the over all slope of the property. One of the better investements in equipment we made.

Thanks for the fedback. If you don't mind me asking what did it cost? I'm looking for something which I can put a box on to haul my ATV to different locations and then use the trailer on the back of the ATV. Would that be an option with the M-90. Are the trailers "road ready"? Do they have a website?
Thanks again,

Jerry

I looked at these also, but when I considered going downhill with a load behind an atv, I decided it would be much safer for me to skid with my tractor.

If your property is level, then the Novajack may be a good solution.

You may also want to search/ask for feedback at www.forestryforum.com .

1bush2hog,

Thanks for the feedback. I agree that the tractor would be better but I'm looking for a solution where I can keep working with the tractor in the woods (skidding winch) and have the wife take the logs down to the landing. At the same time I'm looking to do minimum damage with skidding so I'd like to get the logs off of the ground when moving.

Yes, if the property is level it may be worthwhile with an ATV. Otherwise, you are going to need something bigger and heavier to pull it. We (my father and I) use a little 40"x48" harbor freight trailer behind 4WD atvs to haul firewood around our hilly terrain. It doesn't take much weight for you to lose traction on a slope like the ones we have here in NW Georgia. By comparison, I wouldn't even want to try to get out of the yard with a load of logs like I saw behind an ATV in a picture on the Novajack website.

"have the wife take the logs down to the landing"

Then CatVet may I recommend you take out some addl. life insurance on your wife. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Actually I have struggled with the same situation in not wanting to skid logs and tear up my roads. However, the thoughts of a large runaway log coming down a hill behind my atv quickly changed my strategy.

Catvet,

the Anderson - Majaco web site is as follows:
http://www.anderson-machineries.com/English/home.html
The log loader is definitely an investment, starting in the $12,000 - $13,000 for the M-90, obviously increasing with options and larger models. Yes, road ready versions are available. Dump boxes and excavation buckets are some of the options that are available. In my opinion this is a heavy duty well built machine, that is more than capable of performing its design functions.
I again caution, on significant slopes i can not fathom using an ATV to tow the M-90. Even with surge brakes the log loader likely would push an ATV.

engineer,
after reading your posts on the Anderson Trailers I did some research on the M-90 ATV Log Loader Trailer. I'm real interested in one for local, low impact logging work on gently sloping land.
Do you have one of these trailers?
If so:
How long have you owned one?
Is there anything you don't like about them?
What do you like about them?
Anyone else have feedback on either this or the Bercomac ATV Log Loader Trailer?
Or any other "self contained" ATV Log Loader Trailers?
Self Contained meaning the engine & hydraulics are all mounted on the trailer...
