I filled out an opinion survey once from an anonymous tractor manufacturer regarding various "features" that they were considering building in to a tractor. They had a welder, a generator, an air compressor and a few other less desirable features. I'd certainly pay extra for a tractor that had those features built right in!

Man it is hard enough to select a tractor now, you got your brand to fight over and the tire selection to fight over and transmission choice to fight over, and now we are going to bring welders into this fracas? Stick vs Mig? Chinese vs Domestic? I don't think a noob would have a chance of picking a tractor:laughing:
( it would be kinda cool if they came with a welder though:eek:)

I dunno, I kinda think a built-in ice chest and coffee maker might be a nice touch :D

I'm thinking standardizing good tool storage, 3 sets of remotes and third function, 3 point rear adjustment lever and draft control, more than adequate lighting and appropriate amp alternators to power it would be a good place for all manufacturers to start as standard equipment. And to top off the dream pricing effects would be negligible..............

Welders of course would be an excellent option, as would a plasma cutter.

Tractors and welders go hand in hand... I think they should be a "option"....a built in orange millermatic 21O would be nice:laughing:

I saw a nice option on a tractor at a home and garden show a few years ago......
Blonde, blue eyes, had a nice set of stacks

Rad I hear ya on the rops. My 30 had a sunshade...the thing was taller folded back then it was upright. It also rattled, & I was going to weld the rops together, but I went gorilla on the bolts instead. I am glad I didn't weld it because I ended up trading up to a 40.

Anyway, if you can find a good used welder, something in the 170 amp or better for mig(don't know about stick...never use done) you can weld anything on a tractor.

I dunno why they make them so high. Someone told me that they are suppose to be as tall as your loader will lift but that didn't make any sense at all. I was thinking about cutting the top portion down but didn't know if that would have any bearing on my warranty on the tractor. Can you weld most of this stuff with a small wire feed welder? They aren't priced too bad. But of course that is not going to make me a welder hahaha.

haha on the built in welder. They have PTO driven generators. Wonder if they make a welder for one? I really don't do enough welding to buy one but you never know. We tend to have a few power outages here and I thought about buying a Miller welder some time ago so it could double for a generator. I bought the generator instead. Of course mine would have to be Massey Red. Sorry Guys.

be care of the hydostatic tranny. think $$$ for repairs.

Yeah I was told that when I bought my first Massey with Hydro. I had it for 14 years without any problems at all. Just gotta treat them like a tractor and not a bulldozer.

It looks like it is going to be a Sunny Day out today. You could probably go hunt easter eggs with your new tractor. I've never seen any kids that didn't like to ride on the tractor. hmmm not a good safety talk here huh? Everyone have a great Easter by the way!!!

Rad, on the ROPS they make them high so that if you turn over sideways it will prevent it from continueing the roll on over so that is smashes you. Think what would happen if you rolled it sideways on a hill, would it just flop over and stop the roll or would it keep on going? You are not supposed to drill, cut or weld on the ROPS, as it may weaken it. Of course it is your tractor and you may do as you please but that is the thinking on them. Yes they are a pain sometimes, but I could show you some roll over pictures here on TBN where the ROPS apparently saved the guys, and also saved the tractor from more damage. So to sum it up.. yep they suck, but they may be necessary at some point in your life.

I would guess there is more operator involved repairs involving gear transmissions by riding the clutch.
