Now you are getting older - what don't you do?

I walk about 6.5 miles per day at my job. In nicer weather, my wife and I walk an additional 2-3 miles every evening after dinner. We walk a little faster than 3mph, at about 50-55 minutes per 3 miles. On weekends we like to take 2-3 hour walks, so that's about 6-9 miles. Feels good!

I can't run due to foot issues, but am happy with walking at a brisk pace.

Good for you. Don’t stop the walking. In my 40s I had a job where I walked for most of an 8 hour shift and it did me a power of good. I lost weight, kept it off and felt fit as a fiddle. The desk job that followed for almost two decades stretched my brain a bit but did nothing for the rest of my body!
Now I’m a hobby farmer and run the Parkrun every week. The fiddle is back in shape.

As for a walk-behind mower.... my father in law has a Toro with the personal pace feature. It's really impressive. You just walk. The mower drives. You walk faster, the mower goes faster. You slow down, it slows down. But you really don't push it all that much at all. Easier than a shopping cart. I highly recommend you try that Toro feature if you can.

I had one, and figure it was the best gasoline powered mower you could find. But I gave it to my grandson when I bought the EGO battery powered mower.

Up until the end of 2017, my father in law mowed his 1/3 acre lot every two days with that Toro. About 3 times per week. He was 89 when the Dr. told him to stop due to his sciatic nerve. Ever since then, his mental capacity and physical strength has gone down the tubes. Sad to watch. :(

Funny we’re talking about that Toro Personal Pace mower. If the rain holds off I may use it later today.

8000square feet but half a dozen odd shaped areas. Not accommodating for any type of riding mower.

Well said my man. I got that and more. I just got back from having MRI on my back and shoulder. The hurting is getting worse each year so I finally decided to try and do something about it. I have had a bad back for 34 years and just put off getting it worked on but I think now I may have to do something.
I still do much of the stuff I used to, but now I do it with power equipment rather than manual. My biggest problem is getting up an down, so when I am on the floor doing something, I look around to see if I need something else while I am down there. The getting down is slow but getting up is even slower and much straining needed. If I could loose about 80 pounds it would be much easier I guess but then I haven't weighed 160 since 9th grade but then it was all muscle.

My Doc just told me to lose 100 pounds. He and the Lab Tech (his wife) double-timed me with bogus blood tests. She came running in all excited and waving the results of cholesterol and triglycerides tests that were highly elevated. I had just eaten a very large portion of Beef Stroganoff an hour before my appointment. They both asked if I "fasted" before the blood tests and I said no. They tricked me with very inaccurate results. No matter, if I don't lose the weight now, I never will. I haven't weighted 162 since Marine Corps boot camp in 1972. Not sure a 67 year old with osteoarthritis can get back to that point. Gonna try.

Good luck getting healthy, we can starve to death together.

At 76 , new hip , new knee , I can do most things just one heck of a lot slower . I shoveled 2 ft. of snow off a shed roof last week , probably a stupid thing to do at my age but it had to get done. It use to be you could hire a young person to do such a thing but no one wants to do that sort of thing anymore .

I'll be 75 this year and everything I've been through, I'm doing really well. I can't run the chainsaw as long as I used to and I really like cutting wood. I ran all over the US from '89 to '04, reefer and dry van and owned my own truck from '95 to '04 when I retired. I've since had 5 shoulder surgeries, 5 knee surgeries and a hip replaced and then both knees replaced. Then back surgery and both wrists, real familiar with the PT folks. I would really like to pick up a used Goldwing and run some of the places I've been when trucking, don't think that will happen though. We heat the house with wood and I'm still able to keep up with that and when this weather breaks, I have 4 or 5 ash trees around the yard that I need to take down, looking forward to cranking up the saws and the splitter.
