Now you are getting older - what don't you do?

My dad had a group of friends, all senior citizens, who met every Saturday for an extended lunch.

But there was one firm rule. If you mentioned anything medical, ailments or pain or even a head cold, you were out of the group.

There were no exceptions.
We do the same thing here as we sit in silence, washing down our super salad with pomegranate juice.

........Finally by spring I ran the whole loop without stopping. That was the day "I believed". When summer came I went and ran a flat "rail trail" for 13.1 miles. (We call those flat trails "hero miles", cause they boost your "mileage" so you feel like one!) Regardless, I couldn't believe only 4 months later and at this age I could run 1/2 a marathon. It emboldened me to jump on the bicycle and do 40 mile trips knowing we are a lot more capable than we think we are.
I'd do more if I had the time (and weather).
I think "physical conditioning" is a misnomer. It's the mind that needs conditioning.
That is brilliant! And I totally agree. I never expected I would be jogging at 72 - walking yes, but jogging 3 miles, never (albeit with a bit of walking). My aim is to jog the whole 5k by the summer regardless of what my mind (or my wife) tells me!

Just discovered a new wine for when we are getting older.
There is Pinot Noir for red drinkers and Pinot Grigio for those who prefer white wine but for all us older ones they have brought out Pinot More.

I still take them two at a time every day, many times a day, 3,4,5 floors at a time. And, if I'm feeling rambunctious, I take them two at a time on the way down, too. ;)

laughing:

I always take steps instead of elevators (not too many high rises here thank god) two at a time to work my glutes.

Two at a time going down?? I think I’ll pass.

It isn't so much how many you take, as how fast you are doing it. For me it isn't the ability, it's the fear of taking a misstep and falling.
I used to take 4-5 at a time going down at work, grabbing the hand rails and going for it. I would clear a flight of stairs in two steps.
It's scary how much things change in 5 years.
It's not like I can't do it though. Two weeks before I turned 60 last month I took these two pictures for work; one looking east, the other 100 feet away looking west. There was 2 1/2 feet of snow, and no trail; I followed a compass line to get there. Slopes were at 50% or more.
The first pic is looking down my cruise line. I was supposed to go another 3/8 mile, offset 1/4 mile, then go back up the hill again but I didn't have enough daylight (or energy) to make it.

A few (many) years ago I could do a single somersault on ski's, a couple of years ago I did a triple somersault, the main difference was the latter was not planned and cost me a dislocated shoulder.
The other thing I don't do any more is look forward to birthdays.
