we live in a development that is pretty popular with trick or treaters. I pulled a double axle trailer with my tractor with bales of straw around part of the neignborhood last night with 5 kids from 3 to 9 and thier parents. The kids (and parents) had a great time and got lots of candy. They had so much they were trying to share with me. My wife said had about 25 at our house. The hottest area in the neighborhood was the back corner and it was pretty busy. One of the boys, about age 8, wanted to know if he could drive the tractor. Thats me in the cowboy hat.

You are the type of neighbor every neighborhood needs...

Plus you get tractor time while having fun!!!

Sadly, I think this is a dying tradition.

Never been in Washington for Halloween...

Mom's home is in Oakland and some years not a single person at the door.

It's no exageration that she had hundreds in the 70's and 80's...

No trick or treaters way out here on the dirt road, but we are sponsoring the church fall festival next weekend. Games, food, candy, hay ride and fresh boiled peanuts. Expecting around 30 kids plus all the adults. We are also expecting one special guest who turns 100 years old in Dec.

Zero.
Zero all three years we have lived here.

I think it's the unlit 1600 foot driveway through the woods.

My guess is, If you own a tractor, you probably don't live in the target neighborhoods.

None here, but we haven't gotten one in 5 years. The kids go to richer pickings in denser parts of town. Not great weather here for it, but there were people out when I was driving home from work. I think neighborhoods go in cycles in terms of age, for example average age on my street is probably 60's maybe even 70's. We're by far the youngest, though that's starting to change as folks downsize or pass on. At some point there will be a bunch of kids again.

I live in Lake Jackson Texas.. we live on a court,, My wife bought 21 pounds of candy.. five bags,, 4 pounds and 3 and 1/2 oz... each.. She gave most of it away.. liking maybe two pounds.. we had maybe 200 to 300 kids.. I thinking next year charging like two bucks pre kids.. what your thoughts?.. more or less..,, I had a nice time.. some of those kids put a lot of work into the costume or the mother and dad.:). At the ranch, I'd have no trick or treaters but back in town I give away a lot of candy. Every year we see more. Half of Mexico shows up in my neighborhood and next year I expect retired school buses packed with church youth groups to line the streets. I'm fine with it. Halloween is my birthday and it makes it just a bit more interesting. A trend I don't like is parents that follow their children in a car rather than get out and walk with their kids. It just makes things more unsafe with a traffic jam for hours...too many cars and kids not paying attention running through the streets.

Mom lives in the city of over 400,000 people with streetlights and paved sidewalks.

It was like a ghost town last night... nobody on the streets.

Where in the heck do all you guys live?:confused3:

I'll agree, the numbers are down from previous years, but we still had well over 100 visit our home on the edge town. My wife usually makes homemade treats and puts out lots of decorations. This year, due to family issues, she bought candy and only did a few decorations.

I suppose part of it that we live in a rather modest sized rural community of about 11,200 in SW Wisconsin. Gotta love that small town atmosphere .. I hope we never lose it here.
