They will enforce the dyed fuel law in Illinois but won't enforce the firewood law. It is illegal to sell firewood in the state of Illinois by the load, rick, stick or bundle. Must be sold as cord or parts of cords only.

Do you want them to stick their nose into your firewood? I sure dont. Shouldn't even have these laws on the book.

I'm not technically qualified to answer that. I don't know if the swab is just looking for color or if it reacts chemically.

I'm thinking you better get pictures of the policeman holding your can of Mystery Oil and a written statement saying it was found in the back of the truck when you go to court.

Here in Florida, a straw is dipped, then pulled and compared to a color chart, like paint chips, etc.

All good points but......What does common sense and logic have to do with the decisions and actions of government employees ?

Don't blame the government employees, they just enforce the laws passed by congress or your state legislature. They are just doing the job they were hired for.

Makes it frustrating competing for sales with guys that sell by the truckload, or worse, claim to sell a cord and not even be close. I cannot tell you how many new customers have told me "this is alot more than the last guy called a cord" or something to that effect.

Wat if a gas station was trying to sell 3qts and call it a gallon? Would we not want enforcement?

Actually the gas is a great comparison.

Bundled wood falls under a different thing in ohio. As long as it lists approx cu ft content.

No one is forcing anyone to buy a cord of wood.

Cord is the standard measurement, just like gallon. You can buy any qty or fraction or a cord you want, but has to be measured in terms of cord.

IE: if you cut wood 16", advertising a face cord is illegal. Advertising 1/3 coed is perfectally okay. Because a face cord is an incomplete number without knowing the length. Would you call a concrete company and ask for concrete in sq ft without giving them a thickness(to get volume)?

That's why face cord, Rick, truckload, etc are all meaningless figures.

Truckload...... Shortbed or longbed? S-10 or full size? Stacked or thrown on? Etc. How the **** do you know what your buying?

If a gas station started selling gas by the waddle.....well what the **** is a waddle? You have no idea how much your actually getting til it's too late and time to pay the bill
