3 x 24 ag duty cylinder from Race Brothers (local farm supply). Cylinder included pins. With the hoses and fittings it was just under $200.00.

Then, I splurged and had a set of adapter hoses made so that I can use the trailer with my Bobcat, too. They were almost as expensive as the cylinder and primary hoses. Those flat face hydro fittings are salty.

Ouch, that's pretty high compared to other places. Surplus Center has the Chief 3x24 for $118 and the Prince for $153 and a 4x24 Chief is only $156. They also have a couple of generic ones for much less. Northern has their house brand 4x24 for $109 and the Lion 3x24 for $99. The rod diameter looks to be 1.25" or 1.5" depending on the manufacturer. All of the above are 2500 psi cylinders and shipping is extra.

I would probably go with a 3000 psi 4x24 cylinder that has a rod diameter of at least 1.5" and more like 1.75" or 2". It's probably overkill for this application but it sure would be sturdy.

Given any thought as to how you are going to brake it when it's not hooked to the tractor ? Just wheel chocks ?

Sure would be a drag to have 4000 lbs go rolling off somewhere /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Surplus Center has Eaton Fieldmate (China) 4 x 24's for $88 - plus about $20 or so for shipping, depending on your location.

Haven't priced out the hoses, yet, have you? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif The cylinder was a 3 x 24 Chief for $125.00. Hoses and fittings were about 70.00. One is 7' and one is 9', elbows for the cylinder and Pioneer fittings for the tractor.

Lets see, 2 3/8" 2-wire hoses, one 7' the other 9' with a 90 degree male swivel connector on one end and a 3/8 QD male on the other would cost about $26 and $29 respectively plus $7 shipping. Close enough.

For my uses, yes.

Contry Manufacturing has reduced the price yet again on the 2-ton dump wagons and trailers. It is now down to an amazing $749 plus shipping. Thats about 47% off normal price.

I just had one shipped to me in New Hampshire for $178. Ordered 3 weeks ago so they must be busy.

Better buy now while they last and before they raise the price.

Well that offer was just too good to pass up. I ran it by the CFO and she couldn't believe it either! I placed the order minutes ago; shipping was a few dollars more than Mad, but they said it should go out the end of this week or the begining of next. We'll see....

When you get it send me a PM. Their assembly instructions leave a lot to be desired.

BTW, it comes on a single 4'x8' pallet and weighs over 700 lbs. Make sure you got the stuff to handle it.

I have had one of the tandem axle units for almost 8 years and love it. The only thing that hangs up when dumping is large logs that catch on the metal frame. With a compact tractor it is an amazingly handy unit, One suggestion for everyone is to put a sheet of 7/16 osb in the bottom and screw it to the boards in a coupl of places. That keeps fin ematerials like sand inside. willie jones

Mad - Thanks for the offer; I'll take you up on it if I run into trouble!

Hmmm... they told me 500 lbs. Well, it's being shipped here to work so they should be able to handle it, but I'll let the dock boss know that it's heavier than we first thought. Thanks for the help!

The model 8300 weighed 729 lbs according to the trucking company. The invoice stated 700 lbs. At 4'x8' it is definitely too big and awkward for one or even two persons to handle. We forklifted it from the dock to a box truck then 3 of us removed the bed from the skid and then used the tractor bucket to get it off the truck.

If you have a trailer just have it loaded onto the trailer. You can then disassemble the skidded parts when you get it home.

The assembly instructions are not in the right order for easy assembly. They are aware of it but told me that someday they would change the 3 page instructions. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Are you happy with the trailer? I am considering purchasing one. I have looked at the "King Kutter" which is sold by a local farm coop. they are very simular but the king kutter is all metal and has a hinged tailgate. but is a little smaller and load cap is 500 pounds less but is more money.

commets please.

Thanks

David

I have it assembled but have not had a chance to use it. My dump cylinder will be here this week. I am going to design a swinging tailgate for it. It looks like a good solid unit and is absolutely worth the $749 + shipping.

Get 'em while the price is right. The same setup for a Kory is over $900 and you have to design the bed dumping mechanism.

If the King Kutter trailer you have been looking at is this one:
King Kutter XB ,
I am pretty sure that it is made by Pronovost for King Kutter. I believe that Gearmore and Montana Tractors also sell pretty much the same trailer. Pronovost also makes and on-highway version of this same trailer that has lights and you can get it with an electric dumping option. I have yet to find somebody out in my area however that has one of these in stock so I can take a look at it. I know the off-highway version goes for around $1700 in the Northern tool catalog and I have gotten quotes of around $2900 for the on-highway version around here but I am not sure what the exact differences are. If you happen to go by that farm coop and have a digital camera could you snap a few pictures? I am mostly curious as to what type of suspension the King Kutter version has - because I am wondering if the off-highway version could be adapted to on-highway by adding lights and the correct highway rated tires.

Jim, my local farm supply had an XB in stock when I bought my Country Mfg trailer. There is no comparison. The Country Mfg trailer is heavier in the frame area, has heavier duty wheels and tires, and has a much larger cargo area. The hand pump looked like it would be a pain to convert to using the tractor hydraulics, so I just bagged it and bought the Country Mfg. trailer....and that was before they cut the price in half!

Jim, Yes, this is the King Kutter trailer that my local coop is selling. $1,600 when on sale. normal $1,799. However, I just ordered the Country Manufacturing.

King Kutter is rated at 1,500 pounds vs. the Country Man. is rated at 2,000 pounds and has a larger box. I did like the way the tailgate hinged and the King Kutter does have a swivel hitch system, and you can change between and ball hitch and a pin hitch.

Even with the shipping costs to Oregon, I still saved close to $500 dollars. I have a neighbor that thinks he has a cylinder that will work with the Country Man. trailer.

You will need either a 3" or 4" bore cylinder with a 24" stroke. That's what they designed the mountings for. This is a standard cylinder available from many places. I got mine, a Chief, from Surplus Center for about $120 + shipping.

MadReferee,

We have discussed this already, He owns a large plumbing construction company and maintains several pieces of equipment and has left over cylinders and hose making tools. So I should be set. If not I will go your direction.
