Oil & Fuel off road fuel

I worked on engines all my life and the only problem caused by removing the sulphur was a few leaking seals on Cummins. There is a chart giving the lubricity test results for fuel and a bunch of additives 2% bio diesel was by far the best, it is on the Diesel Garage site but if you just Google diesel lubricity test it will come up. Adding 2 cycle oil is a myth.
In 40 years of working on engines in class eights, never did anyone ever admit they added anything.
Cat had the best advise "buy clean fuel and keep it clean"
I lost a lot of work when they took out the sulphur, valve jobs work dropped to near nothing from multiple jobs a week, a turbo a week.
Europe had ULSD for years before we did and they never had any problems using it.

The pumps by me are labeled off road with 500ppm and the road diesel is ultra low under 15ppm. Does anyone have a high hour machine that was ran with the high sulfur? I do not know much about it as this is my first and only diesel. I would hate to wreck the engine in the long haul.

run the 500 ppm max off road in my b7800 and rtv 900 for a few years. 900 hours on the b7800 and over 500 hours on the rtv 900 as of today. running the off road ulsd now for a bit and no problems. use the power service mainly for anti gelling in winter and to disperse water if it gets in fuel system. as for the slick diesel in power service to compensate for lack of sulfer lubrication, i just do it for reassurance. not sure if i need to, but the other 2 benefits i mentioned i like so i keep doing it. as far as wrecking the engine for the long haul, i am not an expert. there is hours and days of reading on this subject if you search and have the time. many different opinions too. my guess is you should be fine with the newer diesel engines and the ulsd fuel, on road or off road. as for the 80's /90's engines???

I have used off road in my john deere 310 backhoe for 19 years without any additives. I have not had any problems.
I agree with an earlier post keep your fuel clean.

The only diffrence using road is taxed, and different color dye.

Our off road diesel is higher sulfur content. Dealer told what I'd save in fuel cost was not worth the valve jobs I'd have to have done. If the off road had the low sulfer content, I'd use it, but since ours doesn't, I'm listening to my dealer.

i thought that it was all 15ppm in 2010. looks like they never got around to removing the old sitckers yet.

Non-road diesel fuel was required to move to 500 ppm sulfur in 2007, and further to ULSD in 2010.

When I first got my mahindra 2615 I ran on road diesel because the dealer said it would not make any difference. one day while working I started losing power and loaded up on the trailer and took to the dealer, he listened, came back out and dumped a quart of transmission fluid in the tank and almost immediately it started running fine. he told me to run off road and should not have any issues going forward, so I continue to use it.

Thanks DR86. I'm going to check in with my local feed and seed who sells off-road. They happen to be right at the corner from my lane and much closer than the gas station I usually go to. I've never looked at their pump b/c my dealer told me not to use the higher sulfur stuff and implied that's what they sold.
