I want to rip along my fence line with a sub soiler/mole plow. I would like to get right up close to the fence if possible which would not be possible with a standard subsoiler that is configured centreline on the back of the 3pt.
Wondering would it put a lot of strain on the 3pt if I mounted an off-set shank that would rip a single trench just behind one wheel?
I have a kubota b7100.

yes this would place a tremendous strain on one side of the 3pt hitch. However you could rig the bracing to distribute the loade a little. But even then i would think that you would have to steer the tractor to the opposite direction of the load as you will pul to one side. I wouldnt try it. I have seen 3 and 5 shank subsoilers trip or shear one of the shanks. The whole tractor tried to move to the side that the others where in the gound. I would not try it especially if this is on a compact tractor. This would also depend on how deep you were going to rip. If it is only like 12" then you i think you would be ok. But if you are going 18-24" i would take it extremly slow and easy and see what happens.

Now if you riged up something like a vibrotory plow that would work. On thoes the plow is still attache in the center of the lift and a hydraulic cylender shifts it to one side. But the load remains in the center. This would serve your pupose and still keep the load where it should be.

To keep the tractor running straight, you could try a multi-shank sub-soiler with all but the outside shanks removed (one on each side).
