yep.. the 6.0 psd is quite east to get to.. right there on top of the engine.

I'm not too much of a fan of the machined aluminum housing for the fuel filter right next to it though. the machining is a taqd rough.. and I have on rare occasion had failures of the oring to seat reliably, leaving me with a 'seeping' fuel leak up there.. new oring fixed it.. but I wish it was a polished surface.. not the striated one..

Worked for a NAPA jobber for 20 years. All of NAPA's premium filters are made by Gard Corp. also know as Dana Corp. Wix Filtration Division which is located in Gastonia, North Carolina. They make WIX, Carquest, NAPA and a whole host of other filters.
I suspect NAPA has a replacement for your tractor. NAPA filter has an online cross reference you can enter your filter number in and if they have a filter it will show you. Here's the link. NAPA Filters : Filter Look-Up

I have used NAPA premium filters on every vehicle and piece of equipment I have owned for the past 35 years without one failure. Including one vehicle which overpressurized the filter to 350 PSI. The metal can housing swelled up, but didn't blow out and neither did the o-ring. I quess you can say I'm sold on them.

baldwin is probally the best and all rest are manufactured by fram, you didn't think all those other brands actually had their own factories did you?

Thats good that you decided to jump in on your second post to set us straight. Fram is an allied signal company who is parent company owned by Honneywell. So when you look at wix it says Affina who is there parent company, not honneywell or allied signal. Look at the actual address on the box of a carquest it says affina and has the address on it, not the same as the fram plant. Purolator is also its own company with no affiliation to fram or wix, there not made by them. I agree fram prolly makes a lot of filters but not all of them.

As you know being a Ford Powerstroke owner they use a cartridge style now. I prefer then to the spin on type. You see them on many BMW, Mazda, Saturn, Ford, and other makes. I think this is the way things will go because its much easier to dispose of versus a metal can filter.

I am sure they are cheaper to build also. No need to cut them open because you can see everything that is going on like you said.

Chris

Yep Chris, I see you over at The Diesel Stop a good bit. I don't post much just keep up with what's going on plus have had few problems with my 6.0 other than the turbo vanes sticking from time to time.

I just ran into a problem with an AGCO oil filter with my MF and finally found the threads had a bad spot in them. I had to get a NAPA (Wix) and when compared to the AGCO they were the same down to the yellow mark on the seal and the part number on the drain back valve (kind of hard to see). I work in the R&D lab for a filter company and have seen it all. We even make the top of the line filters for our completion, go figure.

almost all manufacters will buy some filters from other manufacters to fill out their line.its not worth the ramp up expense for a low volume #.

Just got Baldwin fuel, hydraulic, and oil filters that cross to my OEM filters from a truck dealer near me. Although I was just a guy off the street he gave me the discount price, half the price of any other brand anywhere I had looked. Interesting the oil filters took a few weeks ( a odd one not stocked). When I got the case they are clearly marked "Made In China'. No complaints ,just noted that even the "best" are made overseas.

For me the most important thing is that your fluids and filters are changed at or above the OEM specs. Probably many will differ, but I don't think the quality of the filter is as important as changing it when required!

Just my $.02

I agree but why is this bad? there are parts for miltary aircraft made overseas daily.. Heck, you Pc is not USA based.

China will tank soon and it will be back. India is too high now.

There is No reason to think "made in China" is the same as purposefully made inferior...
Things are manufactured to spec... regardless where it is made.

The only reason you are able to buy a PC at the price they are available ... is Because they are made where they are. I have been in electronics for decades... we are very fortunate that we have an affordable source...
And they will not 'tank' in any time soon...
It says Something when an item can be made Identical, shipped half way around the world and Retailed for 1/3 the price of a domestic manufactured item...(the difference is Not Just the cost of Labor).
Baldwin filters were good ... and still are good.
That said I still use Wix, always have, & I have NO idea where they are made... KennyV
