Oil Filter Comparison

Yea we still are dealing with that double post issue? I have done it a few times myself i see recently?? What happended to the outcome of that Dbl post thread we had like a year ago going and Muhhamad was "looking " into it?

I've had to delete at least three double posts in the last week. The common theme when it seems to lose its mind is when a popup asks me if I really want to leave that page? I am sure not an IT guy, but I do know that message
hasn't come up in normal use.

yep.. I see it often

they have been holding up for me on a tractor.. 1 year anyway. though no oil gets on them.

a lil gas sometimes from over choke though.

they are cheap enough to chage out more often if they do get damaged though.. :)
I ran them for 50k miles or more on the ranger in my avatar that I still own with 290k miles on it. Before that was years of super tech I think? anyway I now run purorlator or wix or motorcraft. But I think it was that truck but seems like they coating would wear off, and I use to change them monthly back when I commuted! Or maybe its on the old K10, yea I think that's the one as it sits verticle and that thing leaks at every gasket and stays wet. and it gets yearly changes on it.

i have a couple rowcrop forsds that will take the fl1a or fram ph8a .. but I use the supertech on them as it is shorter and makes fighting with the frame rail easier.. :)

A few years ago I was invited to tour the Baldwin filter factory . The engineering dept. had their filters and other brands there , cut a part checking the micron of paper media , on machines pressure testing , etc. The one test I was impressed with was pouring shavings in a circulation line , circulating , then checking the fluid for how much didn't get filtered . They pointed out , no filter can be 100% efficient or the fluid or air would not flow . It takes a lot of $ , testing and expertise to know what is in a filter .

There is not much for them to cheap out on a cartridge filter.

What baffles me is just why the cartridge filters I buy for my '04 Saturn L-300 are so d*** expensive, even if they are a Fram brand. Tiny little paper and plastic elements cost as much as a large Mobil 1 premium spin-on filter for my GMC. BTW, I am currently using WIX brand filter elements for that car as they seem to be better made than any other brand. I also use the Wix spin-ons for my Deere.

because it is for a saturn L.

go to napa nd buy a set of points for a ford 8n.

now go buy a set of points for an old muscle car that uses a equivalent ( crossover ) set.

the tractor points are cheaper. :)

I'm just guessing here but was your Saturn based on the German Opel? Could it have an unusual spec filter?
