You are much better off with a Wix, Delco, Purolator, NAPA, Amsoil, or Mobil 1 filter. Fram is very good at marketing a very mediocre filter. We fool around with a lot of different high performance vehicle applications and have cut open a lot of different filters to check for bearing material. The internal bypass mechanism is very cheap in the Fram filters, as are the cardboard endcaps on the ends of the filter roll. This can result in the filter "leaking" oil back into the engine directly through the bypass - means your oil does not get filtered, just recirculated.
The internal bypass in most filters will be affected by oil pressure - the internal spring is rated for a certain pressure and will open above that pressure. There are a couple of reasons for this. If the filter gets plugged, the bypass is set up to activate and route oil back into the engine directly to keep an adequate oil supply to the engine. Also, in high demand (high pressure) applications, like when you floor it, the bypass will again allow full oil recirculation back into the engine to ensure the engine stays alive.
For me I use Delco in everything and Kubota filters on the tractor until I get some cross reference numbers. I cut open a Kubota filter and it looks similar to a Wix filter, but I can't say for sure. I get them for $6 thru TractorSmart - cheap enough insurance for good filter.
I'll get off the soapbox, but don't scrimp on oil filters - there's more to them than you might think.
