With a hand from a friend I got the tank on


temp. instal of two out of the four hinges


built the latch holder and, um, the female end (for lack of a better term) with ramp up


closes hands free


90 deg dump!





So, I decided today I'll be taking 6" out of the uprights on the lower frame. When I designed it, I figured half the length of the tank (hinges are at the half way point) plus 6" of clearance. This is true at 90deg dump, but at 65deg I've got 15" under the back of the tank... so no need for that much. Not only will it make the trailer more stable, but it'll be easyer to load and unload, for the sake of an extra day's work, I think it's worth it.

Somewhat late, but I finally was able to take a picture of the tank trailer that I had mentioned earlier:

The tongue at the front pivots. The original plan was to have it dump by locking the parking brakes on the tires, but that didn't work out.

My plans are to put a drain hole in the nose of the tank D), flip the axle 90 degrees (to make it lower to the ground and bring the axle near the back of the tank), rework the tongue (to account for being lower to the ground) and set it up to dump with either hydraulics, or a boat winch.
Might put the original tailgate back on, or I might work up something different.

I realized during dumping trials that it needed a handle to re-lower it... it'll also help in moving it unhitched. Today's progress;






My first thought was to make two 90deg bends at the end of the pipe, but I think this way is better for using it as a tie down point. This was 3/4" scrap from work... so free.
