OK, How About B7500 vs. B2410?

I heard that Wheeldog!!! Just kidding -lol. I think our friend really just needs the BX and he is going out of control!--but---if I was going to go out of control and purchase a unit that is way more than I need and will not get in all the tight places and mow them I would get the excellent 2400/2410. It has a displacemnt advantage and position control and is wider and thus more stable than the 7500. Really dude, take those breathing exercises and then go get the BX your heart told you to get and then put the 4000/6000 extra dollars into a tiller, a box blade, a Furest tine harrow, a lawn rake, a small trailer, a 16 foot flatbed tandem and a new Lawnboy, new string trimmer, and maybe a 48 inch brush cutter. Maybe a new dress for the wife. Goodluck.---------next------yes we BX guys are flooding the list and it will get worse soon. I have seen two new BX's within bicycle distance of my house and two more I see in a neighborhood I pass going to work. All four are brand spanking new. They will in time outsell all other Kubota units numbers wise and will turn suburbon/small acerage America into a sea of Orange (BX's) and when Kubota comes out with the position control to go in that extra slot and that new mini back hoe watch out---Bam-Bam on steroids. Prepare for the onslaught! Y'all take care now. J

Dave,

Your situation sounds a lot like mine. We're on 40 acres. About 1/2 of it is woods, & the house area is about 2 or 3 acres, plus about 1/2-3/4 mile of trail. Driveway is about 4300'. For this I got the B7500. The 2710 or 2910 might have been a better choice for the roadwork, but they would have been a real shoe-horn job a couple places around the house & on the trail.

We now have 18 or 20 hours on the B7500, and I am pretty certain that this is the right machine. Maybe in a couple of years I might change my mind, but so far so good. I'll use the extra $2000 for beer. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Good luck on your decision.

No matter what tractor I get I'll have to start making more homebrew. I'll be too broke to buy "store bought" beer!

Thanks- Dave

/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gifTresCrows, you've cut me to the quick! My B2410 and me cut down in our prime, by one of our Kubota brothers, no less.

How can we get you turned around and pointed toward the blue and the green forums, where you can really do some damage? Maybe you can start a thread entitled "Hey you Losers who own TC18s and 21s - check out the BX!", or something like that. (BTW, have you met JimBinMI yet? - could be an interesting exchange there).

(No offense intended to any NH owners, of course. Just being a wise-acre).

Dave,

I had the same problem which tractor to buy. I first started looking at the Bx2200 and then moved to the B7500 then to the 2410. It seems it never stops! I decided to go with the B7500 and put the extra $$ into attachments. I got the loader, tiller, mid-mount mower, front snow blower, box blade and cab with heater. I wonder about the position control and the extra hp but thought the B7500 would serve the job. Like someone else said you can't get one to do everything just get one that does most of what you need and can afford.

Re: Position control for B7500

I wonder about the position control

This issue keeps coming up over and over. I know about the convenience, & I understand the issue. I've looked into it a little bit, & I think in a couple of weeks I will have the answer. I'm going to retrofit a position control-"like" mechanism onto my B7500. I hesitate to give too many clues, as I'm not sure it's going to work (but it is pretty simple /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif. Once I have the details worked out, and have a working prototype I will post it here on TBN. Then all those folks that bought one of the larger B-series can feel jealous....

That's a great use I hadn't thought of yet!

But back to tractors... I had a short test spin last Sat. on the BX and the 7500. Hopefully I'll get a chance tomorrow to do the same with the 2410 and a 2710 or 2910. I'll post some impressions next Monday.

Re: OK, How About B7500 vs. B2410?/Homebrew

Dave, do some more breathing exercises. I cannot believe someone would start out looking at walk behinds and then convince themselves they need a 2910. Your initial post said you would use it mostly for mowing. BX, 7400/7500/2410/new-used---whatever, just keep in mind you are buying this thing for you to mow your grass mostly not build a highway or dig a quarry or hire yourself out (neighbors might like you a lot real soon) or anything like that or impress the guys on this tractor site. Imagine the look of your lawn after a big tractor squishes it over and over. Do let us know how the test drives go but remember that driving a 2910 around the tarmac at the dealer may give you a real adrenaline rush but then imagine that thing in your front yard. As a mechanic one thing I know is that the right tool for the job is not always a sledge hammer. When I size up a fellow mechanic if he opens his box and it is full of big hammers and big wrenches then I know not to put him to work on anything delicate or requiring patience or finesse. Have fun---take your wife with you, she will be more level headed, women really are smarter than men. J
