I have the Horst Welding 48" forks and use them a lot. For those new to FEL forks, you have to go easy with the roll-back on your joystick. If not you can easily "pitch" the load into the air. When loading an old bathtub onto a trailer I tried to "jiggle" the forks to make it slide off. I jiggled to hard and nearly pitched the tub on my wife. :ashamed:

As others have said, pallet forks are a real handy item when you have a need for them. I use them for most of the same things (lifting logs, pallets of pellet fuel, deliveries, etc). I have a set of clamp on forks that I used with other smaller tractors I owned. They are still used for quick picks of relatively light stuff. After I got the Kioti tractor, I bought a set of SS quick attach forks from Everything Attachments (Construction Attachments brand). They are very rugged. I like them a lot.

BTW - I've used the wife's logic too several times for attachment purchases. Just don't forget to tell her how much you love the way she thinks ;)

I put all my accessories (blower, sickle mower, etc) on pallets, as well as firewood, etc. So easy to move stuff into and out of storage with forks.

Your stump grinder will probably be a big ugly heavy thing to move; put it on a pallet and problem solved! Off the ground and easy too move.

And pallet forks are probably a lot lighter weight than a grapple, you will have more lift capacity left...

Good advice, I've dumped a few loads, including a pallet of loose brick, by jerking the stick to hard.

That can be a critical point for large logs. I was thinking the same thing, probably loose 200 to 300 hundred pounds of lift capacity. A large % for a CUT.

Pallet forks are actually pretty heavy. They often run 400 lbs or more. A CUT-sized grapple is in that same range. The weight is mostly int he forks themselves. The frame/mount is usually not the heavy part. Mine are 48" and are right about 400 lbs. So is my grapple.

I thought of some other things... I move the quads around with the forks easier then uncovering each one and driving them... After mudding with the quads, I lift them in the air to clean them with the forks.

I had to bring a genny to my moms for the power outage I was alone, I used the forks to put it in the pickup.

I am always moving the wood chipper or boxblade somewhere with the forks.

The forks are so easy to store ( just leave them under the last pallet) I usually switch back to the bucket. I use the forks so much the wife asked me yesterday why I dont just leave the forks on

I have been swapping mine out with the bucket alot also...i mean it only takes like 30 seconds to do it. I generally leave the bucket on though.....it seems safer than having those tines sticking out 48" in front......i hit my head on enough things on a daily basis.

I don't have the quick attach pallet forks but purchased a set of bucket forks several months ago...
I've moved lots of brush and items with them...
Best purchase I made since buying my little FEL...
I saw a lot of different things that I could do with them so I felt that the price was justified...
You will find more uses for them than you thought...
I really like mine...

Dstig,

Soon as the grinder arrives, I think it will be attached for a LONG time. I will be using it very often, and it looks like a better ballast than my cutter (shorter and narrower).

I have a large metal shed I will store the tractor in (once I remove the rollup door and make the opening large enough for it to fit. I will part the BB72x in the back corner on a pallet (45 deg angle park) and i will park the grinder next to it. on the other side will be my bucket and grapple spot. the tractor will fit in the middle judt fine. I my not need to move stuff very much (we shall see how that goes...)

I'm going to buy the pallet forks. Looks like Woods Equipment Company - PALLET FORKS: Woods PF-series PF4048S is what I'm getting and better priced than anything I've found on everything attachments. He has MANY in stock.

Maybe not this week, but soon I will buy the forks.

I got my "quick attach" brand pallet forks for $795 and im real impressed with them. They weigh in at 400# by themselves and are rated to 4500# per pair, way more than my little old DK45 can ever lift. There easily adjustable and tines lock in place where you set them. I cant believe how much use i gat out of these....OH, and their actually made in the USA. And shipping was free
