I had assumed that the one you had didn't come with the valve and was just stuck there, but I guess not. I also figured it had been added at some point in the past because the seat had gotten rough and standard washers were wearing out quickly.

But if it's working it's working. I would think in the future you can just use any standard flat washer and do what you did. Congratulations.
