Since the tractor makes no sound change at all-then you either have a electrical connection problem or the solenoid valve is failing(very doubtful) Check all connections carfully.

I found it. I didn't realize the LONS was actually LONG, and it is the brand of grapple that I have. Here is the link that shows the valve and control switch:

The valve itself is not long at all, what you see are the solenoids sticking out on either side. Like Kenny said, check your switch and wiring. To further isolate the valve, take the leads off each solenoid and apply 12v directly to the pins on the solenoid and tell us what happens. Check and see if one pin is grounded, if not, use 12v lead and a ground lead to test. Do the same for the other solenoid. 12v to one solenoid will make the grapple either open or closed depending which one you are testing. If the solenoids are dead, they can be replaced.

I know what the problem is. The switch is bad on the joystick. I called W.R. long and they told me how to test the switch and that was it. I have to call kubota to get them to order the replacement switch.

It is an OTTO switch, part number K1CBEAAAAA 10.1 A 125VAC

I wonder if there is a replacement that I could use instead of the original? It needs to fit the original hole it came out of, so I guess I better stick with Kubota to make sure I get the original part.
