I am not buying my oil mail order.

I'll mail order most anything if it saves me money. The only exceptions would be used items where the condition and quality is not guaranteed. Otherwise, I'd prefer to save time and money by not having to go out. Heck, even if prices were equal, I'd likely mail order just for those reasons and the convenience alone. My time is a valuable commodity to me and my kids.

I agree. I like to order online. No "people to deal with", no people asking "do you need help".................................

Unless the shipping is real high for a small item, I hit the "submit order"..........

I agree. But after just looking at Amsoil prices to S/H it [ they are not too bad]. Ex, a case of oil is like 24 lbs; so shipping is $8.88...Not bad.

but when you add that into the cost of product. It gets up there....

I live 15 miles from the closest place that sells oil. At the current IRS mileage reimbursement rate of 44.5 cents/mile, a 30 mile round trip to buy oil costs me $13.35. Granted, I can combine trips, buy a bunch of stuff at one time, etc. but in some situations. it's cheaper for me to buy online, even for some heavier items.

You have said it all! I agree with you. With oil, I live so close and combine with other trips that cost is minimal.

Now, I just bought a new exhaust pipe from Messick Farm Equipment and Outdoor Power - Parts, Sales & Service. The closest dealer is 100 miles round trip. And Messicks has the item in stock!

Yes, I have to agree with you too....not just for oil.
It's also the time I spend doing it, most times sitting in traffic and all the idiots on the road out here and getting frustrated. Then there's the standing in lines and dealing with the ****** clerks and checkers who are of no help whatsoever. Let alone you might not get what you want anyway because they don't have it? It all ads up fast to becoming a miserable experience anymore.
It's not like the good old days where a drive was just a stroll in the park.

I mail order filters from my JD dealer for the tractor and my Ford truck. I just got sick and tired of having to go to a two or three stores to get an filters for such a popular truck. I send email to the guy that sold me the tractor. If I send him a note on Monday. I get what I ordered on Tues or Weds at the latest. No way I can drive to his place for what it costs to ship. I support my dealer, he gives me the parts I need without a hassle, the parts costs a bit less, and is sure cheaper/faster than ME going to get the stuff.

Ironically, by doing mail order I'm supporting my local dealer! :D

I have NOT order real heavy items like oil from him though. Don't know what the charge would be put I'm sure it would still be cheaper than me driving 50-60 miles to pick it up.

Later,
Dan
