Thanks for the advice on the colors. I really like the way you simulated the walls Jim. I ruled out light green for the walls. I think this will be one of those last minute decisions. Mike I wish I could just put it off to the wife, but she keeps kicking it back to me. Tomorrow we are having a coloring committee to inspect the site and suggest a color.:D

The side walls and roof can be cut to the closest 1/4 inch and can be cut in a day. The trim will take a few days to make. That gives me about two weeks to decide.

It might be time for a ride with Karen Don. You might think of it as looking for local color. (LOL)

Seriously, half a day driving country roads in your area and I'm sure you're going to find every color and combination of colors.

It might help.

Karen brought in the color experts form all over the County. They looked, they ate, and then they made their decision.

The colors will be...........

announced on the 28th.

Building this carport is really fun on many levels!:)

Don, you are a smart man. Now, you have finish the process by going around talking about what a great decision they made. :)

Don, Jinman was right! Your decision to "color by commitee" should have earned you enough brownie points to get another tractor. Did the Fedor Historical Society offer you choices? You know in New Orleans, the commitee is very strict. How is it in Fedor?

If I were a gambling man, I'd put the odds 3 to 5 that a barn should be red (I apparently went against the odds on mine).

I thought it might be appropriate to bump this to the front page since we're going to have the get together this coming weekend to complete the barn.

If you're in and or are going to be around central Texas this weekend and you want to have some good food and meet some wonderful people while completing a fun project visit the "meetings and get togethers" forum below and get directions for Don.

It would be worth attending just to see the best thing about guys like Eddie, Bird, Don and myself. We'll be bringing our wives. I'm not sure I'd advise bringing a non-wife unless you'd like her to be a wife in the near future. Eddie used us to win Steph's heart just that way. We did good.

Harvey,

Thanks for remembering. That was Steph's first get together, but some of you might not realize that we'd only been dating for less than a month!!! She really impressed me there and we had so much fun, I just knew she was a keeper!!!! ;)

The first picture is of Steph and I in front of Dons bridge. The reason for that get together.

The second picture is of Steph's son, who was 4 at the time, and one of the other kids he spent allot of time playing with. Anybody recognize her? :D

We're bringing the kids and everyone is very exited about all the fun we're going to have this weekend. Just hope Don's puts all his pet snakes away!!

Eddie

The carport/storage building is finished today and ready to fill up!
The colors the Ladies of Lexington picked were ko ko brown and fern green trim. They did good. The building looks quaint like it belongs here next to the cabin.

Many thanks to the great guys of TBN. We had a crowd of 26 people show up to skin the building a few weeks ago and what a party it was! I don't know about the others, but I learn a lot from Harvey and Scott (and I ate sooooo good). These pictures are on the Meetings & Get-Togthers thread below with the same name starting on page 18.

These last couple of weeks I have been putting the finishing touches on the building.

Harvey's connectors brought the building together with simplicity and strength.

On this post I will show the exterior pictures and the next post interior pictures.

A quick review:
the building is 21'X30'. The gravel carport area is 21'X21' and the slabbed storage area is 21'X9'. The storage area has two doors and two windows.

The peak is 12' high and the roof pitch is 5" per foot. The porch for the golf cart is 12'X10".

The building has 4 skylights (panels), and gutters.

Cost of materials, about $4,500.
Building it with my friends here at TBN - priceless.:)
