but from what I read, it's the only color that doesn't carry much of a warantee or gurantee. One guy told me the pigment fades in red faster than any other colors

Eddie, several years ago I was treasurer for our little volunteer fire department when we built a new 40' x 60' fire station and we were told the same thing about red. So we stayed with blue and white.

I've seen plenty of white buildings with red roofs that didn't look faded from a distance, and I have no idea how old those roofs were, but it sure is a nice look that I really like. Oh well, I went for the green roof instead on my home.

Hi Eddie, I'm guessing here, but I'd bet you like white adobe walls with a red tile roof too. A red roofed metal building would look good in that environment, but I'm not sure it would look good with your green roof. I think once you choose green, you pretty much limit yourself to the same or maybe tans/browns. Of course, I'm not fond of red metal sides on barns, so my opinion may be skewed. My green on my house is holding up well at about 5 years, and I think it blends well with the surrounding woods. If I build a building soon, I will probably not use green on it's roof. We'll see...but for my carport, I will stick with the green to agree with my house.

Mullier has a copper color that looks great. There's a church on Hwy 82 in Sadler TX that has it. Thats what we want on our next house. It might look a little out of place on a carport thow.

Here are a few colors that we have been looking at for the exterior walls:

dark brown with tan trim
dark brown with green trim
green with tan trim
green with light green trim

Does Anyone have a preference or one that you would not consider?

Also in the attachments, the rye grass came out beautifully in the back yard.

The Porte-Cohere now has a rock floor. I'm still working on the roof framing of the Porte-Cochere. Harvey has some good ideas on how to attach the roof to the main structure with metal plates and bolts. Harvey's way will have only the bolt holes cut in the skin and the roof frame will be put up on the 28th (If I get everything cut drilled and ready to install). Things are really shaping up and the cooler weather (70-94) is pleasant.

I live in Mid Michigan and have a dark brown roll up door on my pole barn. In the Winter with lots of snow on the ground and temperature in the teens, with the sun shining, my roll up door is so hot from the sun beating on it that I can not keep my hand on it. You live in Texas and if I was in your area I would go with a lighter color to keep from turning my building into an oven in the heat of Summer. Just my opinion.

Dark colors absorb heat, light colors reflect it.

I made my house tan with the green roof. It's a timeless combination that might be a little boring, but never one you'd regret.

you saw my barn - tan with green trim and galvalume roof --- heat was only part of the equation .... the primary one was "what color do you want dear?"
--can't go wrong with that priority.

I like the Tan sides with Brown trim. I do not know how plain galvanized steel works for the roof in TX. But that is what is on our 25 year old barn.

Don, why don't you do something like the attachments to help you decide on the best color?

Hopefully you will be able to do a little better than I did.:p :p :p

I think it just depends on what you want to look at for the next several years.:D If it were me, and since I prefer light colors, I'd probably reverse the above; i.e., light tan with the dark brown trim.
