I think there's a comma or 2 and a dash missing..

Ahhh, now that makes complete sense to me. The courses I have seen here focus mostly on making you understand how you have to think and act to protect yourself. They stress that you need to be prepared ahead of time in order to respond appropriately. I also like that they discuss how to get out of a situation so that you do not need to draw your gun.

I'm not looking for a fight or saying anything one way or the other - but as a Canadian, even the CONCEPT of carrying/needing a handgun while on a tractor is mindboggling. In fact, I actually thought the thread was a joke when I first read it.
I guess our two cultures - even though we share a 2500 mile common border - are miles apart in that regard. But hey, whatever floats your boat, I guess.

The big reason most would want to do so is to be able to kill rabid or injured animals. It does not seem like which side of the border you are on would change that desire.

How many drovers coming at you at high speed in their vehicle have had good training?

My State allows carrying without training. I have no problem with that. Most carry classes don't touch on the things that matter anyway. These classes should include many hours of situational training with blank ammo.

If I ask you "can you point your weapon at a human and pull the trigger without hesitation?" And you make excuses or hesitate in your answer you should not carry in public.

Had to call my daughter to bring me "the contender" when I ran across a 6 foot rattlesnake heading for the house. I chased him into the trees, but he holed up between 3 trees that the tractor couldn't run over. A single shot with the .410/45 long colt and I didn't have to worry about him showing up on the porch step!

I am just curious why you would not want people to be trained before they can carry a gun? I was surprised to find out I did not need to go to a gun safety course before getting a carry permit.

Springhollow I see how you could read it that way. Was not what was trying to say. I very much believe a person should have to go through a qualification course to be permitted to carry open or concealed. I was trying to say: "until you go through the training and do carry", you may not can see the good in carrying a gun.

Thanks for asking.

Midniteoyl, you got it, thank you. Kenneth

I do want it understood I very much believe in the right to bear arms. I also believe in the responsible of the gun owner as has been pointed out of an auto driver. I wish shootings were broken out to show lawful gun owner and unlawful gun owner. Why are the pro gun owners upset...wait till they tell you can not have a tractor for you are not a certain class corporation with such or such farming certification or finally outlaw full size cars. Do we really need four wheel pickups? Where does it stop? Sadly too many people have lost the ability to think and reason.

May God Bless this nation and all those on TBN.

Good thread, it opens up the personality of many posters.

Learned a new phrase, to be used for store bought socks and shoes :)

What about the concept of always carrying a fishing rod, line and hooks in your vehicle?

I think a lot of the posters are carrying because of fear, only a few are carrying because they want deer meat etc.

No, but trikes tend not to be able to carry much.
Or did you mean 4 wheel DRIVE?

Obviously a lot of people do not feel safe unless armed. I would hate to be in fear of cats that are after mice while I'm bushhogging. But now I'm starting to be concerned about all the people that are carrying and hope they are keeping up with their meds.

Given where you live, I am surprised.

That is probably the most important.
