Thanks for the help Kenny !

Purchased a woodsplitter valve from Princess Auto the other day, sure that the tractor was open centre and then started second guessing myself.

I've done some searching for advice on hyd. plumbing for rear remotes and found some info. In particular several posts by MadReferee (may be mis-spelled) where he mentioned having explained the proper method to follow .

Thus far i've not found the actual posted instructions though. Oh well ,off to the search page i go again.

Madref detailed this for the Kubota's hundreds of times for MAY members. His knowledge is sadly missed here on TBN but all.(In case you did not read, he passed away about 1 year ago).
I can help with the basics, but I can't go into the detail he could about the Kub's...

Kenny if i wanted to reroute hyd. fluid to a woodsplitter mounted on a Wallenstein backhoe attachment (pto driven pump) would this valve do the job for me ? (Princess Auto valve, on page 23 of their online catalogue)

I could not find that on their site, do you have to download the whole catalog? Can you just post a link?

But from reading the description, it does not sound like that is what you want to "divert" the flow from the backhoe to a logsplitter. The key word here is "divert"

For this application, a manual diverter would be better suited and cheaper than an electric one.

Something like THIS or THIS is what you want, unless I am mis-understanding what you are asking?

You would have to download the pdf file to find their hyd. valves http://downloads.princessauto.com/?Lid=E (not sure how to do this but) this should take you to the download page where you could load the Hyd. pdf.

I should have explained more clearly Kenny . I purchased a splitter valve intending to build a 3pt. mounted splitter . Then someone showed me to a youtube video in which a splitter is mounted on a Case Backhoe.

This along with back troubles started me wondering if i could do the same (provided there is a large enough res. etc.) and use an electric diverter to split fluid between bucket curl & splitter cyl. as needed. Running the splitter ram the majority of the time while allowing the splitter to pivot in the same manner as the bucket would as needed.

OK, I get a better picture now...But I still think a diverter on the main line from the pump to the splitter valve is easier. If you need to move the BH controls then just push in the diverter valve button.

Do you have a link to the YouTube video?

Kenny when you say diverter on the main line from the pump do you mean on the tractor hyd. system or on the pto / backhoe pump ?

I meant the PTO pump because you said this:

reroute hyd. fluid to a woodsplitter mounted on a Wallenstein backhoe attachment (pto driven pump)

I just watched the video...NOW I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!

That is a pretty neat setup! I was thinking you where just trying to power a stand-alone splitter with the PTO pump.

Why not just put a set of quick couplers on the bucket curl cylinder? position it where you desire then coupler the hoses from that cylinder to your wood splitter.

Splitter in that video is a very nice setup in my mind at least !

Sorry for the confusion Kenny . I had originally planned to build a stand alone splitter powered by tractor hydraulics . However if my GX700 attachment will support a backhoe mounted splitter (as in the video) that would be my choice of build .
With that in mind , in your opinion is the diverter from Princess Auto capable of doing what i want to do?(provided whatever i buy matches the pump flow)

Your idea is another option i would explore . However being able to tilt the splitter beam could be quite useful so i hesitate to give it up just yet .

I just downloaded the catalog...

What you posted is not a diverter or selector valve, it is a spool valve and will NOT work as you are intending. It is designed to operate a cylinder electrically.

What you need is listed on page 25 (manual) or page 26 (electric). 2-position, 6-way Selector valve.

They will take ONE input (from the BH control valve) and DIVERT, or SELECT between one of two outputs (bucket or splitter)

Perfect !

Think i'll opt for a manual selector ( "C" from page 25 ) and eliminate possible wiring problems somewhere down the road .

Thanks Kenny !
