Years ago, I raced dirt bikes. (Enduros and Hare Scrambles) One enduro we went to every fall had a long off camber downhill that ran right along a barbed wire fence. During the years we raced there, I know of about 5 different guys that got ripped up pretty good from that fence. Every one commented on the fact that they couldn't get their eyes off the fence, and it just drew 'em in like a magnet.

That's called "target fixation". It's the cause of a lot of single vehicle motorcycle accidents.

Here in Minnesota my CUT is legal on all but the Interstates but my homeowner's insurance does not cover me once I leave my property so I have a special policy. Now that I am retired from my engineering position and am adding more equipment every few weeks my insurance agent has suggested sitting down and checking if a farm policy is right for me. I pay several hundred dollars per year extra for my mini-excavator because I thought it covered me when I rented it out but now I find out it doesn't cover me for rentals.

The problem is that half the people don't know how to use them correctly.
I see them as driveway markers all the time. Improper location on farm equipment. Faded and tore up you can't see them hardly at all.
