Operator of a brush hog ever been hit by debris

I have noticed if I back up and mow and I am in saplings they will rip off the rubber guard on the front. So I have added a series of over sized washers to each bolt, currently I thing the largest is 3 inches with a 1 inch to hold it on.

Also the deck tilt as you know you want the back end an inch or so higher so the bulk can exit if the deck is tilted higher in the front I would suspect more debris would fly out forward. The only issue is when you raise the pto a couple of inches if the wheel is not off the ground you can be creating an incorrect tilt.

P.S. I gotta know: Was the snake venomous? (Possible clue: Did you hear any rattling while it sailed by?)

Don't have poisonous in my area. Good thing my black lab mix kills snakes, moles, opossums, coons, coyotes. He hunts squirrels and rabbits to suplement his normal diet,

I haven't been hit by anything but I have come close with several sticks. Usually they are just shot at my tires so I don't have too much to worry about, Haven't got a flat tire yet. i have wanted to put a screen on the ROPS though.

Just wondering if you have ever been hit by your own debit while on your brush hog? I have seen things fly forward of me while cutting heavy material and have heard loud smacks to the rubber guard. I am considering installing a metal screen into the roll bar as added protection.

Do it!!! My screen gives me protection and peace of mind. It's a piece of expanded metal (steel) attached with hose clamps.
